Yeah she was in the building and someone told her the hatch on her jeep was open. she went out to check and found the bags gone.....

Of course they don't have any security cameras on campus.

Alert the pawn and gun shops and start checking Craig's List and eBay.

Oh man - that's awful. Like Riverrat said - the important thing is she is safe. Good advice from Rick too. Don't worry about the knife - if it isn't recovered, I'll make you another one.

I'd bet that gun shows up at a shop and the bags and that knife will probably get auctioned. They'll show up just keep watchin' for them. Set your alerts to notify you.

Man, I hate to hear that! Not that it helps any, but I'm ticked off about it, too! I have no use for a thief!

I got an E-mail today regarding this new type of robbery. Apparently they sit in parking lots waiting for those to use their keyless locks. Since it is all radio waves they can steal the code. Best bet is to use the manual locks. I guess this is happening a lot. Sorry you had to go through it.

That's excellent advice for everyone. Record your serial numbers, photo your weapons and note any after market accessories or other special identifying features.

Just curious, did they fingerprint the car?

Keep us posted. Let's hope these scumbags get caught.

You might also think about this. If they did use a scanner, then they have the code to open your vehicle. You may have to do something about that. Change the lock code, install an alarm. I'm not certain but if they have the code they can come back any time.

No they didn't fingerprint the car the officer said for this type of robbery they usually don't "waste departmental resources needlessly as the odds of recovering any usable prints are very slim, and since they had the "code" they likely used gloves anyway"

An anti-theft device is always a good idea. While I know this one is illegal, it sure could be satisfying.

Yes that's what the cops said as well. Since they caught the code it also turned off the alarm system. Her jeep is supposed to have a rotating code to prevent that. I guess it doesn't have like the dealer said it did or it's not working. I'll da## sure make sure it does ASAP. OH and thanks doug.

No I didn't think they would they usually save the "resources" for homicide and stuff like that. I am sorry to hear about this Don. not too long ago there was a car dumped at my apartment complex. I reported it and it was a similar situation as to what Don has, they just called the lady to come get her car. The sad thing is they will probably never be caught.
Don I would keep on the LEO's about what is being done. Otherwise they may not pursue the case. not anything else I can add to what is/has been said. But I am sorry that it happened .
