    Cool A Great Survival/Outdoors Coat?

I was wondering what you all thought of this jacket. It's a bit (a lot) on the pricey side, but I was wondering if it was worth it and if there was anything out there like it, without the price. Thanks!

Well it's interesting but I wouldn't buy it. I mean when I look for jackets I look at the warming capabilities and versatility. Seems to me that this one has a lot of "bells and whistles" but nothing I would really need. I have a nice Columbia jacket that has a zip out liner for great layering, it's very warm and makes a great rain jacket as well. Only cost me $100.00 too.

I guess I'd ask what your intended use is and what environment.

In lieu of that, I have to agree with Doug. $500 is a LOT of money for a jacket, IMHO. I do like the external molle attachment system but if I really needed that I'd get a jacket that fits my use and weather and have a seamstress add them. Anyway, Columbia, as Doug said, is good. So is Patagonia, North Face or Marmot. Some of our LEO might be able to comment on 5.11 if tactical is what you're looking for or a jacket with concealed carry.

Jacket? That one's not really my cup of tea. Like you said, the cost is a bit high - besides, I only wear a jacket three weeks out of the year.

In the north a good jacket can make a huge difference... that jacket looks really sweet...BUT.. $500?? that's awful expensive... for that kinda $$ the jacket should...nevermind I don't wanna get banned.

For that kind of money it better be bulletproof, able to whip villains by itself and keep me warm. Even @20% of it's cost I'd have To think about it.there hasn't been a coat or jacket made that I would pay $500 for. (Why do I have the feeling Ken is going to show us a Jacket he thinks is worth that?)

Actually, I do have one of those........

LL Bean. Full length parka. Windchill factor was below -25° and I was still warm.

NOT THIS ONE, but they look quite similar.

I agree , is on the pricey side. I usually just use a Carhart type jacket and use light layers under and as appropriate a water resistant shell over.

You know the funny thing is Ken that for that kind of money, I could buy at least 2 entire outfits that would be just as good if not better(since I would have another set to change into).

I have a 5.11 tactical that a LEO friend gave me. ( he ate a few donuts too many to fit it anymore LOL) It's not a bad jacket has the conceal carry pockets and a lot of other stuff. But If I were choosing Between it and a military issue field jacket type. I'd take the feild jacket. They come in several colors and patterns cost around $50 with the liner, you can use it with or without. Jacket is fairly water resistant, will take lots of use and abuse, there are a couple of "after market" liner options as well up to extreme cold weather liners you can get for around $25.

Wow, a lot of replies! I'm really with you all on this one. I like bells and whistles and I LOVE the PALS webbing and the amount of pockets, but it's just too darn expensive! Even if it is 1000d cordura! Ken, I really liked the model you showed, but my wife might complain if I brought it home.

I'm just looking for something quite durable, with lots of pockets and possibility.
