I was asked by a co-worker today if I was one of them survival nuts. I was a bit confused why he asked that. So I asked him "what makes you think that?" He said well because you are very quiet, keep to yourself, and don't really try to fit in too much. Well I left it at that but it got me thinking. I am a loner, I do keep to myself, I do NOT try to fit in but is that a bad thing? While growing up I lived in about 10 different location across Indiana, about 3 locations in Texas, 1 in Louisiana, and 3 in Florida. I went to 10 different schools from K-12 and never spent more than a couple years in one location. Now I'm in Alaska but will leave here in a few years as well. I have one, count them, one close friend that I have known for about 15 years that's it. I talk to my parents, well very seldom, and my brother a little more than that. I have no extended family at all, so it's pretty much me and my wife. I have yet to meet my in-laws and only talk to them every once in awhile. So does all that make me a survival nut? Does it make me a strange person? I have lived here for a year now and have not hung out with anyone I work with, barely know my neighbors and frankly don't want to. Just kinda curious if I'm a.....well.....a freak? So what's the verdict.
