I haven't seen a dust storm like that ever, but I have been in one and can you imagine being sandblasted?

Thanks for the memories . Goggle and dust mask and a cloth around the ears. I hated how that crap got into everything. I think I am still washing it out of stuff this many years later.

goggles to protect your eyes if possible dust mask or cloth over mouth and nose. Stay out of direct exposure to the wind/dust. Get ready to be removing dirt/sand from places you never knew you had places.

Not much you could do to prepare for it, except get indoors.

I've read (but not experienced) that if you get caught out in a sand storm and cannot get to shelter, you should lay down with your back to the wind and cover any exposed skin with your clothing (if possible) and wait it out. Seems like the hard part would be keeping the sand out of your eyes and avoiding breathing any particles.

Oh brother you guys. Well I used Wiley X goggles and my bandana soaked in water to cover my mouth and nose. Kept right on working through. But had sand everywhere and I mean everywhere.

Hey we have those during the summer here in Mesa AZ. They come infront of what should be a rain storm. All we get is the wind and think dust. Our pool looks soup after those storms. Very cool photos.
