    Default Hurricane Bill

It looks as though the east coast of the US and Canada are in for quite a bit of rain, and the path takes it right through Nova Scotia. You all be careful!

Top Ten Reasons Hurricane Season is Like Christmas

    10. Decorating the house (boarding up windows).
    9. Dragging out boxes that haven't been used since last season (camping gear, flashlights).
    8. Last minute shopping in crowded stores.
    7. Regular TV shows pre-empted for "specials".
    6. Family coming to stay with you.
    5. Family and friends from out-of-state calling.
    4. Buying food you don't normally buy ... and in large quantities.
    3. Days off from work.
    2. Candles.

    1. And the number one reason Hurricane Season is like Christmas...At some point you know you're going to have a tree in your house.

You got that right! The weather man is calling for a 20 ft. sea hitting land. Lots of folks are heading for the south shore for the show. It’s like a pilgrimage! I’m staying at home to check out the flash flooding and hoping I got a road left in the morning. The tides are running real high at 50.9 feet so all the rivers will be backing up real bad! We get walloped every now and then and most folks are use to it.

Good luck in NS, looks like we are going to miss the worst here in NB.

Yeah, but you get those funky tides already anyway. Both of you stay safe!

    Default This Morning

At about 9:00 this morning, the surf was 10 - 15' at South Shore Beach in Little Compton, R.I. Most of the sandy beach and about 1/2 of the 75' wide sand/cobble parking area was gone along a 3/4 mile length of beach.

A half-hour later, at East Beach in Westport, MA, only 5 miles away, the surf was only about 3'. No beach damage or erosion at all.

Strange. Both face south on the Atlantic.

Did any of y'all see the story, about some people that went to see the storm, and got washed off the rocks and out to see? They were in Maine...I think.

    That's the one.

I was going to make some kind of joke about the Darwin awards, until I saw that a 7 year old was involved. That made me feel bad, and ticked me off, at the same time. If people are too stupid to look out for themselves, I can understand that, but they could at least try not to endanger their children.

Well Bill was a no show. I often wonder if the insurance industry is behind all the weather panics. All you hear now is STAY HOME ……. (we don’t want to pay out for anything) we just want money coming in. Anyone familiar with the north atlantic knows about rogue waves, it’s the 35 footer everyone wants to see. Sad part is the tourists, they are the ones that get pulled in, warning are posted everywhere but human nature tends to take over.
