Okwaho you can use several different types of rocks(or even glass) for making arrow/spear heads Obsidian,chert, flint, agate. I'm not sure but I think Chert requires some type of fire treatment...could be wrong I'm going off memory and it's been a LONG time ago, over 15 years ago. Obsidian also known as volcanic glass where volcanic activity has occured I think the Badlands is the best site here in the US, Again could be wrong that darn memory...what was I saying?
Hmm well there isnt any volcanic activity around where I live, so I guess the main rock im looking for is flint?

All kinds of rocks you can use. Best thing is try it (I almost said pick up a piece and beat it - and I know how you all can get, so I thought better and said something else) to see if it works. Poco - I'm bringing a bucket of baked coral for you to try with. Some of the colors turn out kind of neat.
it would probably be a faster approach to contact the nearest university's anthropology department, as somebody there is likely to know where any indigenous tool stone came from, and are likely to have [or be aquainted with] at least one local knapping enthusiasts. one stop shopping for info on abo-technoligies.
