SAS Survival Guide

A small pocket book about 400 pages long written by John Wiseman, a former British Special Air Service (SAS) instructor. Personally I was able to learn quite a bit from this book, it goes into good detail with most things, such as shelter building and animal tracks. Although he tends to lean more towards sea survival, there is still some very useful land techniques he talks about. This is the book that taught me how to make spears and arrows. It goes into great detail with diagrams of which plants and mushrooms are edible and which ones will kill you. This book basically touches base on everything about wilderness survival and has practical easy-to-follow advice and steps with diagrams and color images. I think it's quite worth checking out.

I just bought that book a week or so ago but I couldn't find a pocket sized version, I payed 20 bucks for a big paperback that probably weighs 4 pounds. Real pain in the *** actually, I wish I would have known that before hand, I would have looked around more. Grrr

Hey Sarge! The Gem version arrived last week! I paid £3.29 I think thats about $4.50. I've only had a quick flick thu so far I've got a lot of reading to do!

I have 3 copies of this book (2 small one large one. the large copy offers slightly more information) its information helped alot in my training. one of the copies is a bit wet from a hiking camp i went on it started to rain 4km from the campsite and didn't stop until i walked under the shelter at the campsite.

I have the pocket version (thankfully). I didn't buy it, me and my friend were cleaning out our desks as it was the end of the school year, I saw this book fall out of his desk, it had graffiti all over it and wasn't in the best shape, but was still very usable. I picked it up, looked it over, took me a while to figure out what it actually was, when I did my eyes widened, "Mind if I take this home?" I asked. "Go for it." he simply replied.
