I was quite serious when I said check with realtors. I've got one working on Mom's 54 acres. The only way people will hear about it is through her or her listings. A realtor (not somebody real new to it) in your town may not know the answers, but may be able to steer you in the right direction. Also, when I said people are dumping land - many are just letting it go - not paying the taxes on it. I don't know how to check (realtor may) with towns/counties/whatever on what can be had, often for little more than back taxes.

If you have seen the movie "One mans Wilderness", I would appraise that land at $100,000.-- per acre. So the 15 acres would appraise at $1,500,000.00 And the Park Service would spend Ken's tax money to buy it.

My neighbor across the road just paid $1,000,000.00 (One Million) CASH for 4.2 acres of semi-wilderness on Six-Mile Creek.

Hey Ken I hope you don't pay Child support too that would reduce your net even more. heck you might just be "bringing home" 5% or so of gross. Depending on what the settlement provided. I know a guy that pays almost half in Child support, and the court wouldn' reduce it. Change in jobs didn't matter they told him he should've kept his old job.

Back to the OP's question. There's plenty of the kind of land you're looking for here in Ky. but that's probably too far for you.

Not anymore. Kids are with me now. That's another story. The title is "How I Lost My Last Bit Of Respect For The Judicial System."

Somehow a lot of people think they can have a panoramic view, with lots of trees. Generally all you can see is trees, till the next Forest Fire.

Jason - That sounds like a tempting offer. But, are you sure you want me as a neighbor? Would you be okay if I knocked on the door to borrow some sugar? or, say, 20 pounds of elk meat?
