Thread: An Idea on Introductions

  1. #1

    Default An Idea on Introductions

Is there someway that when a person Joins the Forum that they could be sent an Instant PM or some kinda' pop up that would request them to "Introduce themselves" using the Criteria that Everyone came up with? Everyones input / suggestions is welcomed.

That's up to Chris. There is an automated email sent out but it's been so long I don't remember what it says. There are some tables there that might accommodate it, though.

I think it's a great idea. Just include an "Announcement" with a link on the registration page.

Not a PM. An email. You received a verification email that you had to click on when you registered. If I remember correctly there are some tables that allow Chris to word the email the way he wants.

No PM or Pop-up that I'm aware of.

Yeah I got a verification of registration/membership but I NEVER read that for about two days or so after I joined!! just clicked on the link and away I went!!! And I haven't shut up since. LOL I do not recall anything about introductions or any such thing I just did it 'cause it seemed like the thing to do. But if I had been a "Lurker" and had been here for a while secretly I probably would have just started posting, feeling like I knew all you guys and gals.

When you join, you are encouraged to make your first post in the Introduction section. It is not mandatory, but makes the exchange of information a bit easier.

Ok since I posted this originally, I went and joined another forum powered by vbulletin(?) same as this one, probably won't go there very often though. Not only did I get the E-mail(at my e-mail address), I also got a PM and a notice as I joined about something else they thought was important. So if it is possible there.... it should be possible here as well.

I disagree, some may not wont to revile them selves that they consider an outing is a motel room and are now considering preparing for a natural or man made disaster.

I myself would hate to know that someone was intimidated and left to try it on there own blindly.

I think this site has already saved one young mans life by making him stop and think about living in the wilderness without any experience.

No I am not saying that this be mandatory-STRICTLY VOLUNTARY- I'm just saying that a PM be sent to the person when they join with a guideline on intro like the sticky in the intro section. Sorry if there was any misunderstanding,my fault.
