Hello,

I stumbled across this site looking for wild edibles. My bf is a survivalist and has recently gotten me thinking about what happens when... WWIII hits. Just an example, could be anything at this point that happens that puts us out on our butts. How would we survive?

So anyhow, we are in central AZ I swear it must be hell at 120 degrees outside, and no rain. I have 3 horses and 5 dogs. I don't know what else to put in here, so here I am, "HI!"

Welcome, single or married,any kids, age, what shape or you in physically, what have you done so far to prepare, are you in a city or the burbs, I'll asume you ride and western style, the horses are a good means of transport and to haul your gear, If you need to bug out, do you have a place to go to, do you hunt or fish, did I forget anything????

Not married, but we live together, no kids. We are more in the suburbs but still too close to the city, its what we could afford. Right now just stocking up food and ammo. We do ride western and I have 3 horses for a reason...need a pack horse, LOL. We have spotted watering holes and just gunna head north. We go scouting quite a bit. It is really dry around here, no food or water for animals, we would have to get out of this area quick. I grew up hunting and fishing and so did my bf, we are equipped in that area as well. We have a quick bag ready, and other emergency things together, really need to buckle down and get it all together. His friend has got stuff stashed all over, buried and what-not, so we have friends ready as well.

O hey, I have a friend that grew up in Oakland, have you been there long?

And to everyone else, thank you for the welcome! Looks like I am going to get a lot of info here. Anyone in AZ here?

Hey Sarge,

That's ok, went and read what you wrote, you make a great point there. I believe David has that stuff, I am one of those people that gets turned around, I hate it, but I can't help it. Normally just driving in the city, have never had that problem hiking or riding or anything. But regaurdless, I do need to get some of that stuff together too. Thanks! I know the area I ride and hike in now like the back of my hand, so I guess that would be a good place to start figuring all that out. I am sure you have guessed that I am fairly young (in the grand scheme) and haven't had much experience with maps and compasses. Thanks for the info!

The only thing you can count on when things go bad is "Murphy's law!" Don't count soley on your BF's knowledge; what if something happens to him? You have to consider every possible contingency. He may be down & need 1st aid; or worse. It's important that you learn as much as you can so you are also prepared. Redununcies are good!
