In all seriousness, I think it sounds like a great idea.

I found it interesting that you said, "I'm still debating the motivations for creating such a place." So, clearly, you are not ready to do that.

That aside, I think it would not only be rewarding in its own right but profitable as well. Don't think yourself out of it. If your gut tells you its right, go for it.

Do you know Rick Mercer, he had a program. "Life Mastery" but Tony Robbins, made him change the name to "The Garden group" or Garden something. The "EST" 6-Day. and Brad Blanton's 10-Day, "Radical Honesty" course. All that is great. Deal with young adults, if you have reservations about kids.

Remy you have much to contribute to the planet. You really want to help, you cry out to help, but you can't back off being the smartest pumpkin in the pumpkin patch. I "FEEL" you will fail at this project if you do not first fully learn humility, learn to serve, learn to serve your fellow man, as Siddhartha learned to be a ferryman.
If, and only "IF"you can clean the toilets, scrub the floors, prepare the food, from the space of love, compassion, humility, empathy......then from that space, you will be a great teacher. From that space you will be loved, from that space you will bring forth what is needed in the moment, and do it with out thinking, if fact in that space Remy will not exist.....you will become love, compassion, service, from that space they will hear, from that space they will be open to learn. The bad news is you won't be the teacher, you will be the vessel that serves. Note: My poodle made me say that. And YOU asked.........

    Default Thank You, Remy

Thank you, Remy. This thread and and my dogs response, has helped me see, that "we teach what we most need to learn". I have for some months been waiting for a new forum name. Thanks to this thread, and several recent post by "Dogman", I now see, what I could not see.

Are you insinuating that he becomes a space cadet? I'm wondering if 1st you might see if they have any open slots for your talents, that way you can try it on for size & determine if that's what you really want to do. They are already set up & probably could use the help. If you decide against it then you haven't really invested all that much. Just my 2 pennies.

You will probably never find the perfect experience. It doesn't exist. You could join an existing group, if that is what you want to do, that is close to your beliefs then you can introduce your ideas as time progresses. Even your own "school" will not be perfect. If the perfect job existed Bill Gates or Warren Buffet would own it and be selling it.

Remy: These programs are expensive, where would the money come from...?
Would "Dogman" be someone you could co-create with....?

I have always wanted to do a small (about 4 to 8 kids) summer (10 weeks) wilderness school for males, 17 to 19 years old, but shy of a massive Government Grant (which would be unreliable year to year), parents could not afford the cost. And I don't think I could deal with the baggage for the parents or children who could afford such an experience.

Easy I have 62.5 years experience at being Male, and even after two wives, I know nothing about females. It would just be easier to avoid the dynamics of three young ladies & three young men, for ten weeks in the wilderness.

There would have been no agenda but for wilderness skills.

I figured it would cost, about $10,000.-- for the ten week course per youth, or about a $1,000.-- per week. Two adults per six youth. The loose theme would revolve around the myth of Sisyphus.

You have always added an interesting aspect to any discussion here Remy. Perhaps you can offer this to those that need help. I wish you luck in your enterprise at the very least you end up broke knowing you made an honest effort and maybe changed the life of somebody else. I have had these moments from my line of work and let me tell you there is no better feeling than knowing you did everything you could to help out a complete stranger.
