Thread: The holeb Bushman camp tool

  1. #1

Default The holeb Bushman camp tool

I came across this camp tool online today and wondered if anyone here had any experience with it. It appears to be a newer item. I think it has just been introduced to the public. Here's a picture and some info from the manufacturer's site:

    HOLEB BUSHMAN

Whether you hunt, fish, snowmobile, hike, or camp in the backcountry, the Holeb Bushman is the one tool that you should bring with you into the woods. Designed by outdoor people for outdoor people, the Bushman combines all of the critical functions of a saw, hatchet, trenching tool and knife into a single fixed blade tool.

The Bushman is not your typical multi-tool and you can't fold it up and put it in your pocket. If you've ever spent time in the woods, you already know that there are very real limitations to what you can do with these multi-tools.

We manufacture the Bushman in the U.S.A. from 440 stainless steel. The heft and weight of the Bushman makes it ideal for turning logs into kindling, clearing shooting lanes and all your camp comfort needs from pounding tent stakes to clearing a fire pit.

The Bushman is designed to provide outdoorsmen and women with a truly usable tool for the backcountry. We've put as much thought into the design of the handle as we have put into the blade. The handle is completely reversible to ensure comfort and safety whether you are chopping or sawing. Our handle is hand-crafted from Ipe heartwood from South America. Ipe is an extremely durable, weather resistant and dense wood.

We are so sure of the Bushman's construction that we guarantee it for the lifetime of its owner. Just return the damaged original product to us and we'll send you a replacement free of charge.

See what people are saying about the Bushman!
    > 13 inches long
    > 7/32 thick
    > 6 inch chopping blade
    > 5 inch saw tooth spine
    > Cast 440 stainless
    > Ipe heartwood handle

Wouldn't make a bad candidate for a passaround now would it?

Now that does look good as a utility tool. Just guessing it may not be great for everything, but good for most. Thanks for sharing

It doesn't look much different than the KaBar beaver tail knife.

I would like a larger version of the knife that Crash is building, with 5/16" stock. I like a lot of belly on my knives, and I generally remove and round off any pointed tip, as it can nick a hide when skinning or fleshing in blind spots. Having a nice spot to park your thumb when choking up on the handle is helpful. I would just choose a Estwing Short Axe over the knife/tool in this thread, for my applications.

I just get that NO feeling every time I see something that's "the one tool for everything". It just ain't been made yet.
