Don't get me wrong, Pal. I don't scimp on protection either. However, if there is something out there as good for less money then I sure want to take a look at it. I don't buy just for a name. I'm sure you don't either.

I've never had one of those telescoping baton things, but I can sure see their usefulness. I did, at one point in my life, have to rely on a cane for walking around. It was a lot longer than what you guys are talking about but there was situation where it proved to be ....quite effective. ('nuff said about that)
some fella confronted me the other day and asked "What's your problem?" So I told him, "I don't have a problem I am a problem"

some of the batons have built in lights too, like ridiculous strength, 240 lumens. Which could be a good deterrent in of itself.

FYI I can buy them wholesale if someone wants a deal.

    yup

stock is a bit tight right now. I can get 16 inch ones with the built in led, or I think 21 and 26 inch ones without it. the LED adds a ton to the cost though (16inch led MSRP is $200)

What kind of price do you have on the 21 inch ones plain. No light?

Are there regulations on the shipping? I know it's a Class C misdemeanor to carry them here, but you can have them in your house, MAYBE your car, depending on the cop.

I'm not sure what the law is on them up here, but then I'm not sure what the law is on a lot of things up here and....ummm, never mind.

I have no idea on the shipping. I would probably look at a large retailer and see if they do not ship anywhere, but I can't see anything as is.

I agree with you. Makes perfect sense to try alternatives. I am just an old fuddy duddy stuck in my ways. Kind of like my peanut butter, I will buy Skippy brand no matter the cost.

I don't even know why we bother trying to defend ourselves anymore.
I think i am going to revert to owning and training german shepherds. Even then, in the event my dog defends me, it will most likely be "destroyed".
I can't even take the dog on trails in a national forest here.

In the event i defend myself, chances are i will be sued by the criminal...charged, and have to serve time.
It is so backwards it's not even funny.

People are as we speak serving 30 years for having shot perps in their own houses. People can actually rob you, threaten your life, and then sue you for hurting them.

I'll tell you...those are good times.
All good reasons not to live in California.

Its really too bad, some beautiful scenery there, but the laws and people are crazy.

Hmm, well it is illegal to carry a weapon, or something that can substitute as a weapon in public places, unless it is job related or specially authorised... So... What can I say. Not a good self defence weapon as you are not alowed to use it, and if you do you get charged for usin unneccesary force during emergency protection situation... They just should legalize the stabbing again..

The vote could be taken like...

"All those in favor of legalizing batons ..1, 2, 3, 4...."
"All those opposed...whack!...whack!....What? You want to change your vote? You, too? Cool."

Rick - if you're interested, I'll pick one up for you this weekend. If you don't like it, I'll take it back in August.

I'm an ASP baton instructor. Never thought too much of them. Give me a 26" hickory anytime. PR-24 is my favorite - at least until the Rodney King fiasco. Shows what poor training will get ya.

ASP does not lend itself well to jabs - which have been my preferred method of baton deployment.

It's hard to go wrong for $15 or $20 bucks. Grab me one and if I don't like it, I'll let the grandkids play with it......Kidding! Just kidding. Everyone calm down.
