Because a job often defines who we are to a certain degree and certainly provides security I thought I would post some web sites to help you in an uncertain job market.
The following federal web site looks at all occupations and establishes projections as to whether the job will grow or decline. It lists average annual salaries that you can expect as will as the qualifications. For example, Police Officers and Detectives are expected to increase by 97,000 between 2006 and 2016 with average annual salaries for a police corporal are expected to be between $44,160 and $55,183.
If you are just starting out or looking to make a change, this is a good place to start.
