I have an older 10/22 with the walnut stock. A few ounces kinda helps me because I use a sling and with a 22 I think a 4x or 6x fixed is fine. I have a 6X fixed on mine, easy on eyes that need but don't want glasses. I have a nylon or whatever(cheap) sling. Uncle Mikes I think. Helps with the shakes with no rest handy and carrying is secondary with me. I generally have my long gun in my hand while walking, may use the sling on a steep uphill but I would recommend both. That 22 is accurate enough for a scope. That's my opinion. Don't remember who asked but a USED 10/22 Mag runs 500 and up used in KY.

Nice! I was think'in about one of those. It would make a nice pack rifle w/ a collapsible stock.

i too installed an extended mag release for my 10/22, along with a new bolt lock that automatically released when you drew back on the bolt handle, so it didn't take two hands to release.

it was the regular 10/22C with the wooden stock and it was as all weather as i needed it to be. one of the finest firearms i've owned.

My favorite gun shop in town was having a sale. Couldn't resist. I have joined the ranks of 10/22 owners.

    1. If it's in your kit and you don't know how to use it....It's useless.
    2. If you can't reach your kit when you need it....Its useless.

My brother has a 10/22 and does nothing but gripe about it everytime I ask him about the thing. When I tell him I'm thinking about getting one he tells me not to bother, just take his.
But, if I actually "act" as tho I'm going to take it off his hands, there is always an excuse why he needs to keep it around.
    Guess it's a love/hate relationship.
But, he is the only person I've talked to with any complaints about it....

Sounds more like he's complaining just to be complaining, or trying to keep you from following suit and "copying" him.

First, get a volquartsen trigger group to put in it, you won't believe the difference. For scopes look at the Simmons 22mag scope in 3x9 or if you want more power check out their centerfire scopes.

My "All Weather" Ruger 10/22 started as a basic wood stock 10/22. I eventually replaced the barrel with a 20" Green Mountain fluted stainess one, bought a properly headspaced bolt, replaced the trigger group with a Kidd trigger, mounted a Weaver 2x7 rimfire scope and put it all in a Hogue plastic stock. It is now weatherproof, and shoots very well. A lot of fun to play with.
