What can you say on that. It is perfect. All hand made using finest materials. This was chocen the best puukko of Finland in 1995!!! In the good 'ol days!!!
The thing is that it costs 189.00 euros and that is a little bit over my budget. Should I get it, or not?

Survival is not about surviving AGAINST the nature. It's about surviving WITH the nature.

You can't go in to nature, nature is not a place or an object. Nature just is. You are living it.

I will not presume to tell you what you should or should not get the love of your life. If it's something that you think she will like, and you can afford it, then the opinion of others really doesn't make that much difference. 189 Euros, or 250 Dollars is quite a bit of money - but how do you put a price on love?

Uhhh, Crash? I know that it's kinda' early in the morning and all, but I believe that NCO means that the puukko is the love of his life. Maybe I'm wrong here, but I don't believe there's an actual woman involved in this dilemma.......

I sort of read it that way, too.

We make investments in tools all the time. I'm not one to spend a lot of money on knives. I look for a well made knife that is cheap. If I break it, then I buy another well made, cheap knife. If you invest that kind of money in a knife and break it how will you feel? Would you be willing to take it into the field and test it or just sit it at home and look at it?

Go with your gut. You apparently have some misgivings or you wouldn't have asked us. I think, in your gut, you know it's too much but your eyes are in love. In the end, it's your money.

Oh yeah - now that I've had a pot of coffee.........Heck NO! I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a knife!!!! unless I really, really wanted it

    If you're asking..........it's too much.

If I am going to purchase a high dollar item (to me this is a high lollar item) and I have to ask.........then it's too much and chances are it will be a regretted decision.

Just a question about that brand of knife. Do the soldiers in Finland get issued this brand? You have told us over and over again how perfect this brand/style of knife is. Do all Finnish military receive one after basic training?
    Well why not?

No, Finnish Defence Forces (we naughbour Russia, thus we can not have name for our military that would somehow signal agression... Remains of the Cold War...) didn't issue us knives at all. We were expected to have our own. After all, it is your own puukko you are most familiar with. We are mostly conscripts though...

What is so special about that knife is, that it is complately hand made. The blade with hammer and anvil, the grip is made of birch tree bark (the white stuff that covers the wood, "tuohi" in finnish) which is the traditional way of making it, instead of using piece of wood. The hilts ("hela", little brass pieces) are also forged by hand. I suppose it would last from father to son for many generations.

And for the guestion of taking it out and actually using it, YEAH! If I'm about to pay my self sick for a knife I will darn well use it. It is supposed to be a good puukko, so why not use it? If I somehow would lose it I can always hang my self... Or have a big pint of Guinnes!

So I suppose it'd be a large pint of Guinnes then. Maybe I should just buy the Sissipuukko that IS ISSUED for some elite Sissi(=guerrilla) units and Special Forces units.

The m/07 is 25mm shorter and 2mm wider than the m/95, making it better for carving and doing other accuracy work.

You could always buy one and send it to knifetest.com and have the destruction test it. Just a thought...

NCO, that bottom knife you posted a pic of looks like a fine design. I like it. As far as the fancy one at the start of the thread.... I'd want more for my money. You asked us what we thought but it'll be your decision. I hope you enjoy it for many years of service.
    Well why not?
