No Rest. Busy Night - Busy Day

Just putting the last drunk to bed last night when I got a call of two men with guns hammering on the door of a residence (drug deal gone bad). Came up with them after a bit. One had a Remington pump shotgun and the other had a 9MM. Pucker factor was high and I'm sure I have a few more grey hairs today.

Got home and boiled sap. Talk about a great way to unwind. I have my fire right down by the lake and boiled up about 50 gallons of sap - ending up with just under a gallon of syrup. Made coffee and even fried up some fish for lunch over the fire. Beautiful day.

It's great that a person has something that they like to do waiting on them whenever they get home to help them unwind, especially after a night like you had. Congrats on difussing the situation.

I wish I could say you're full of it but you're not. My relatives & friends always complain about the "bad guys" getting out before they finish their paperwork. I see it every day. It's who you know or are related to as to your punishment or lack thereof. Last week the parole officer showed me her schedule and so did the prosecuting attorney and most were repeats.

I'm afraid it's all true. We are sending the younger members of the dept off to a training called "Emotional Survival." Basically they are told - in a variety of ways - not to concern themselves with things they can't change. Wish they'd had it when I was young. Took me years to figure it out on my own.

RBB, I understand. Just try to remember that the rights that protect the bad guys protect the good ones as well. I've represented a number of falsely accused LEOs in the past.

One guy, good cop, made a serious drug bust during a routine traffic stop. Two months later, the cop gets called in off the road and internal affairs takes his badge and gun. Out of nowhere, a second cousin twice removed claimed he had raped her years before at a family gathering.

I believed the guy from the start. The cousin must have had some motive to lie.

We worked our a$$es off on his defense. Believe me, this matter was incredibly delicate to deal with.

The system worked that time.Turned out that the cousin was involved with the drug dealer. Case dismissed.
