Finishing what you start

I have noticed that some members post replies to a statement another member said challenging their post. Only they never post again on that subject. Even after the member challenged either backs up their statement or corrects their mistake. I've been reading past and current threads and it seams there are only a select few who continue to do this. I would at least acknowledge the response from a member I questioned about their post. My request to members is to finish what you start. If I ask a member for assistance, I will thank them for their post. If I question a remark, I'll answer your reply. If I'm wrong(which happens often), I will admit it. End Rant.

I have a tendency to do this. Generally after I reply three or four times I just lose interest, because honestly it isn't worth my time to endlessly argue over miniscule points that neither of the two opposing sides is willing to concede.

If I see the argument isn't going to go anywhere I will usually quietly disengage myself from it in order to stem the loss of further brain cells.

I completely understand disagreeing. Posts go back and forth a few time until a stalemate is evident. Both parties disengage. My point is the hit and run tactic of one post. I feel I have the right to question a post on a forum, but also I feel I have a responsibility to acknowledge their response. Even if it to say " I disagree but thank you for your answer".
