I meant WE's post.
Oh, and I did it years ago. Years and years ago. If it HAD been a real weapon the statute of limitations would have expired years ago.

Although these unfortunate folks were taking their citizenship exams at this Civic Center, it was / is a local group sponsored facility. So the Federal "limitations" would not apply.
My "Monday morning quarterback" input (provided with no malice towards the responding police agencies) . Why did it take 90 minutes from first report to the first LEO entering the building? We always trained to have the first 3 responders gather and conduct an immediate entry. Not a perfect response plan but it potentially would disrupt the bad guys activities. Just a thought, again not a criticism.
.45 ACP Because shooting twice is silly... The avatar says it all,.45 because there isn't a.46

Because it was dangerous and someone inside had a "GUN" or because it was a Federal building and they had to get permission. Why did it take 90 minutes from first report to the first LEO entering the building?
Surivial is just an unplanned adventure when you are prepared
I watched the civic center thingi and the pervious one on CNN. How Long is it going to take before they realize that its not guns or gun control is the issue. Its about bacic values and principles. if you dont teach your children what is right and wrong...if you dont teach them about the sanctitiy of human life the problem is not going to go away. taking guns off citizens is not going to solve the problem. teach the kids values. teach them respect. that will make a difference.
Walk softly upon the earth!
I don't really think it has anything to do with values. No matter what your values are, in a personal crisis, all that goes out the window. I'm probably going to get flamed for saying this, but I think this is the modern version of all those wall street brokers jumping from windows and stuff back during the Depression. Then it was "OMG, what am I gonna do????" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH splat. Now, after almost 100 years of being packed into tighter and tighter groups in the city, and being constantly assaulted with violence in one form or another, whether it's mass shootings in schools or the subway, or news footage of a war overseas, since Vietnam we've had a much more closeup look at what is really going on over there. (yeah, yeah, I know about all the BS with the media in 'nam, but it started a trend that now has camera's and reporters up everyone's arse). With all of this re-programming for input, how could the average joe that cracks not go homicidal instead of suicidal? I can see it now.
"Your fired."
"What? But you just hired x (insert immigrant's name here)"
"Doesn't matter, your still fired."

As a society we create our own monsters. Being in a small rural village there were few enough people and enough personal interaction that typically everyone knew when someone had a screw loose and could intervene as necessary. In today's modern city lifestyle it's possible to go weeks (or even months) without ever speaking a word to anyone until you walk into a building strapped down with HE and large caliber rounds. Days later they'll find the blog where the guy was saying he was gonna do it for months, but, not only did nobody talk to the guy, but nobody read his blog either, ya know?

With respect,Jay, I think it's deeper than that. Mental illness can occur as part of our biology or from some external source. Whatever the reason, whatever the source, we should be less concerned about the tool than about the underlying cause. A church coffee pot poisoned a few years ago. Cars used as weapons. We need to focus less on the symptom and more on the underlying cause.

If you live in Britain, the worry is knives. 100 stabbings a week. Remove the gun and some other weapon is found.

Gun laws are important in my opinion, but they should not be in place to restrict all people from owning them, just as a means to regulate and add some level of safety to society.
We all know people who shouldn't ever be allowed to own a firearm. What is wrong with having a system in place prevent this from happening. I have two guns and acquired them legally and store them within the laws of the country I live. No big deal. If the Gov't wants to know how many guns I have, then so be it. They will know who is ready to take up arms and able to shoot a weapon in the event my country is invaded!
I think that we should be talking about the tragedy of the killings rather than the merits of gun laws.
Too many humans in too small a space, worse the population doubles every 30 years.
Red Lake, I don't disagree with you. There are laws on the books that work quite well. Criminals and those with known, treated mental health disorders don't need lawful access to guns. As for talking about the tragedy of the killing, that wasn't the subject of the post. The OP said, "We need gun control now...", which makes gun control the subject. All I'm saying is more laws are not needed. We need to understand the root cause that drives people to kill in large numbers regardless of the weapon used.
Hopeak - You've succinctly identified the problem but you didn't offer a solution. One without the other is of little benefit. So how do you control population growth?

The people who "shouldn't be allowed to own a firearm" shouldn't be allowed to reproduce and we can't stop either. Responsible gun owners always take the heat for the others. This is going to be viewed as a "gun" problem. Some people just hate guns, period. Can't change the way they think. I don't bother to try. Anyone who owns a gun will be treated as a nut job and we will have the same laws as England & Australia forced upon us. It will be federal, just remember this when you vote and vote often. This is a public service message brought to you by me.

Remember last year was it when some guy tried to rob a bank and the guy behind him in line at the teller was carrying? A few seconds after demanding the cash there was a barrel against the back of his head.
World's shortest bank robbery.
