Default Mt Redoubt at it again this AM

She blew around 8:30 this AM then again at 9:40AM ash fall expected in our area in 4 to 6 hours. 1/8th inch or more. Electricity out in Homer for a few minutes... they don't know why, but they are reporting 40 to 50 earthquakes an hour from the volcano! YIKES!!
Will keep you posted as long as I'm at work.

I just Googled Homer, Alaska. This line cracked me up:

"Homer, Alaska - A quaint little drinking town with a fishing problem."

Most places are closing around 1:00PM today. NAPA said they will continue to deliver parts and stay open regular hours. The manager said... "How else are we supposed to sell all these airfilters we purchased just for this event." Lots of power fluctuations though. EMP? Tremors effecting transformers? Who knows...

    From th National Weather Service

LOW LEVEL ASH CLOUDS FROM THIS MORNING'S ERUPTIONS OF MOUNT REDOUBT
ARE TRACKING SOUTHEASTWARD TOWARD THE SOUTHWESTERN KENAI
PENINSULA...WHERE ASHFALL ADVISORIES ARE IN EFFECT THROUGH 4 PM
THIS AFTERNOON. HIGH LEVEL ASH CLOUDS UP ABOVE 30000 FEET ARE
HEADED FOR ANCHORAGE AND WILL AFFECT AVIATION. HOWEVER...ASH AT
THESE LEVELS TYPICALLY WILL NOT FALL TO THE GROUND. THEREFORE...NO
ASHFALL IS EXPECTED IN THE ANCHORAGE AREA.

Nothing much to report... my wife works down at a nice resurant in town and they told everyone who wanted to go home to go. All the cooks left so she will be headed home soon.

I'm kinda disappointed I wanted to see some ash. Gotta add volcanic eruption to my long list of natural disasters I've lived through. I want the whole set.

All we ever get is snow, about 30" plus 30 to 80 MPH wind.

Do you want shark attack, trapped in quicksand, buried by an avalanche or sucked up by a tornado added to that list, too?

Well not sucked up in a tornado. Already been through many of those though. And shark attack is another catagory all together. The other two would be part of my list though. I gotta get that set of steak knives ya know......

I was attacked by a couger once when I was much younger and didn't know better or really care.

    Does that count?

You probably need to explain to me how you can be attacked by a cougar and not care.

Beans to Cougar, "Are you serious? You're gonna attack me today? Today!? Do you know how bad my day has been? Well, do you? Do you think a cougar attack is bad? I'll show you bad. Listen to what happened on the way to work..."

If it was a two legged cougar he might well not have cared.
