    Default Tramontina Bolo

I picked up one of these today at a yard sale for $1.00, The blade is rusted and pitted a little, But in good shape. The handles Have rotted away and theres no sheath. So I need some ideas for handles and sheath, Im thinking Rugged and Multi- use. Got any Ideas? This seems to be some very good steel.

The company i work for sells linen, paper and canvas micarta, give me some dimensions and I'll see if I can dig up some scrap pieces for you. for a scabbard, i'm really sold on kydex. It is very easy to mold (we are talking oven teperatures) to your blade and the sharpest blade won't cut through it as you are inserting it into the scabbard!
    I know what hunts you.

RWB, how 'bout some before and then after pictures. Besides, some pic's of it now, might make people come up with some other ideas. Also some measurements of the handle would be helpful.

Here is the Tramontina Bolo I reworked, Clipped the point and wraped with Para cord to field test worked great. Made a sheath out of ceader, The ALICE clips are Inletted, epoxed and bound with 100# nylon cord. Sheath is wrapped with para cord. Blade is sand blasted and cold blued. Under the wrapped handle are 1 dozen hooks and 50 yards of Spiderwire. Price $10.00

Excellent sheath!!! Nice job on the redo, but be real careful when chopping with it, the last pic really shows the deep pitting on the front third of the blade. You might go to chop something and you or someone around you may wind up with a piece sticking out of where it don't belong. Just be careful RWB. Nice job though.

The clipped point is cool. I never thought of using cedar for a sheath, that has potential. Mac
