Well, there's this little half day winter festival going on in town today and I offered my organization's services to host snowshoe racing for kids and adults. Four of my staff members volunteered to help, so far none have shown up. It's -30C with the windchill, so I wonder if anyone's going to show up at the festival and how badly they'll want to run on snowshoes, but I'm off to find out. Got all the gear loaded and away I go. The four employees volunteering and not showing makes me just have to say....."Monday should be interesting..."

-30 sounds cold just typing it. It's about 80*F here. Storms are headed into the area late tonight. Temps are supposed to drop and they're calling for a bit of snow mixed with the rain tonight. Have fun at the festival.

What type of boss would expect his employees to show up in the middle of a heat wave?

I'll give it some thought. There has to be some way I can sit on the couch and watch.

Well, it was pretty ok after all. Four of my staff actually showed up to enjoy the weather with me. Never had anybody try racing except two kids who were about 10 and 8 years old, sisters, raced each other. I just gave the rest of the prizes away (McDonald's gift certificates for kids, Tim Horton gift certificates for grownups) to people for trying. We must have had 30 people who tried snowshoeing for the first time, which is cool. It's pretty interesting how much quicker kids pick it up than adults. I had a local dj come snowshoeing around with me and interview me for the radio while we were out. Nobody wanted to try racing with me (for reasons I can't imagine) except this one little guy who was about 2 1/2 years old. Needless to say, he won. Turned out to be a fun day.
