Did you ever dream you were on the toilet, and wake up to find that you weren't, but should have been?

Ya' wanna' dream? In color, with taste, smell, touch, and all other senses working overtime? Slap on a nicotine patch - the type that are supposed to help you quit smoking. You'll have more dreams than there are Hollywood movies, and the dreams will be wilder and more vivid. And I mean dreams about everything you would like to do (and everyone you'd like to do it with) every place you'd like to visit, everything you'd like to eat -- you get the idea.
And guess what. When you wake up, you'll remember dozens of your dreams in great detail. You'll may never even "look" at some people the same way again!![]()

I have dreamt that there were bees nests in my room. when I woke up I was convinced they were actually there... Another time I dreamt that a ghost came up thru the bedroom floor and started lecturing me on the proper usage of willow bark tea and plantain leaves.... Oh, yeah, that was my Grandmother a year after she died. Anyhow, dreams can mess you up sometimes!!

Yeah, I've had the same nicotine induced dreams from the patches. It never failed for me though, the pleasant dreams were non existent when trying to quit smoking. Wake up in the middle of the night with nicotine and adrenaline coursing through your veins...nothing beats sitting bolt upright in bed sweating your *** off (and the $3 patch)with your heart somewhere around 200bpm....

I've had a falling dream where I didn't wake up when I landed....I could feel the impact and it hurt in my dream. when I awoke I could still feel the impact a little.
I also have a recurring dream about a tsunami and lava in new york which I've had since I was 5.
I am at the beach not sure where and the ocean starts to reside pulling back at least half a mile in then the ocean starts growing taller and taller. everyone starts to run but get's caught up in the wave as it completely covers evrything and heads inland. I barely survive by holding on tight to a life ring from a boat I had clung onto or by jumping in a boat..other times I never made it.
Then the dream would jump from this to a city. I believe it was NY. My cousing and I are in a museum when we head to the basement where we find free flowing lava and it's rising I could see things churning about in the heated rock like bones. So we both run upstairs but somehow he gets caught and burns. As I reach the doors of the building and swing them open there is a parade going on and a T-Rex is passing by in a gigantic bird cage and snaps at me...at this time I awake.
I still have the Tsunami dream but it stops there never going to the second part.
I must have had this dream 200 times. I am mentally scared of the ocean now with an urge to move more inland. I was 5 when these dreams started. How can I know at that age the way a Tsunami works?
I dreamt last night I was in high school living with my mom. She had a garage sale and sold all my knives!! I immediately disowned her. What a horrible horrible dream.
Seriously, I really did have that dream last night. And I was really upset in the dream. My knives are not that great quality, but they are very personal to me. Like a pet dog.

It's my understanding that current research on dreams suggests that dreams are nothing more than randomly firing neurons, and are generally meaningless. And, whether or not you remember your dreams is simply a matter of when you wake up during your sleep cycle.
The discussions that come from discussing dreams in psychotherapy are more about a person's psyche than the dreams themselves.
In other words, laughing beetle, you dream of mushroom clouds. If we were strictly analyzing dreams, the mushroom cloud would not be taken literally - it would be symbolic of something else - who knows? maybe you were hungry when you went to bed. maybe it is a fear of looming layoffs at work. maybe it is some manifestation of some type of submissiveness.
IMHO - that's all BS.
HOWEVER, your sleep patterns are not BS. Mucho science to back this up. Caffeine - not so good for sleep patterns. Neither is watching TV or staring at a computer screen just before bed - something about the light emanating from TV & computer monitors delays falling into a deep sleep, which is where you actually rest, recover, rebuild, and dream.
I am a coffee drinker. Rarely have any after about 2pm. Also, no TV or computer within an hour of bed.
Just my $.02 fish hooks.
I often dream that I'm sleeping, but only when I'm awake.
some fella confronted me the other day and asked "What's your problem?" So I told him, "I don't have a problem I am a problem"
Last night I had a dream that I was dreaming. I woke up to find myself still asleep.
