First, let me say thanks to those who offered ideas. I may try some of them the next time.

WW messed me up, with the thought of dumplings! Now I want a big ol' pot of chicken and dumplin's!

All I added to my soup was a little more pepper and a lot more salt. After that, all that soup needed....was eatin'! (I had three bowls of it.)

Not at all, 2dumb. Crash and I encourage food submissions to Q.C. for review. That thing you described really doesn't meet the definition of "food."

LOL, last night, when my other half came home, she took a big wiff and asked "did you cook cabbage?". (She doesn't like cabbage.)

I told her that it was soup, and that it just had a little cabbage in it. She turned her nose up, and finally got about a half a bowl, of it. Then she went back and got another bowl.....full. This morning, she took a big tupperware bowl full of my soup, to work with her. I guess it didn't taste too bad! LOL

Here, 2dumb. Let me help you.

    Ken's Minestrone Soup

    INGREDIENTS

1½ quarts chicken or beef broth
    1½ pounds lean hamburger
    1 small onion - minced
1 large celery rib - sliced
    1 cup orzo
    1 cup sliced mushrooms
1 large can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
    1 small can tomato paste
3 (16 ounce) cans mixed vegetables (Veg All) WITH liquid
    3 cloves crushed garlic
    ½ tsp. Dried Oregano
    ½ tsp. Dried Basil
Salt and black pepper to taste

    DIRECTIONS

Lightly brown hamburger and break up while browning.
Start broth to boil with onion and celery.
    Boil 10 minutes.
Lower heat to simmer and add in hamburger and everything else.
Simmer 1 hour, stirring every 5 minutes.

Best if made the day before.

Excellent with grated cheese on top or mixed in when served.

Orzo is, without a doubt, on the par with rice cakes. There is no way you can cook it to give it any taste. I've tried any number of ways. It's never good and never bad. It's just so danged bland.

Okay, 2dumb, I'm gonna' send you a bill for this advice..........

If you like cabbage soup, try this:

1 pound Kielbasa sliced ¼" thick.
OR 1 pound of Sirloin Tips cut into bite sized pieces
    1 Chopped Head of Cabbage
    1 Small onion Chopped
    2 quarts Chicken Broth
1 16 ounce can lima beans
    Salt and pepper to taste

    Bring broth to a boil.
    Add all ingredients.
Keep at rolling boil for 5 minutes and reduce to simmer.
    Simmer for 1 Hour.

To serve, tear a large loaf of round bread* into small chunks and add 4 or 5 chunks to each bowl of soup.

    * This kind of bread, 2dumb:
