i'm reading a pioneer memoir and in it, one old timer suggests to the narrator that she put ear wax on her chapped lips. Sounds logical though not tasty... Thought I'd pass on this survival advice, maybe somebody can test it and report back!

You can also use dog crap, on chapped lips. It doesn't really heal them, but it keeps you from licking them and making it worse. LOL:innocent:
OMG you are sick... lol... that (earwax) lips balm would be smart, gross and nasty but smart and work in a pinch if I get stranded for longer than two days in a blizzard or snow storm.

too bad I keep my ears really clean! Who knew good hygiene makes for bad survival sometimes!

I'm gonna stick with my old stand by. I keep a large jar of possum anal gland secretions to keep my lips in good shape. Apply liberally and enjoy! It is very expensive because the possums are not always cooperative :). Stop gagging, I'm kidding. Stay safe.
I'll bet it makes the possums pretty angry too.
I seen an episode of Gunsmoke where a Mexican Bad guy did that out in the desert,, was pretty gross watching him stick his finger in his ear then rub it on his lips,, But Hey,, Whatever works right ? at least it was "HIS" earwax,,Quote:

Keep in mind when you read these historal accounts, that a lot of things, ways, materials, as well as the people, pretty much stinks.
