Common sense, food, water, shelter and several ways to make fire.
I know that but I mean this is just me myself north coast of cornwall I have an idea but I was oping somebody might have something that I wouldn't think of!
Wow, now that is a vague question. :death:
You can start by adding specifics. Where are you going? What are you doing? What are the expected temps? What is your goal? Solo or with company? Vehicle or on foot? How far on foot? What do you already have?
Me, I take something to keep me warm and comfy, something to eat, something to drink. I think doug already covered it.
Oh, I almost forgot. Bring an adult with you. Sometimes they come in handy. :sneaky2::sneaky2:
Samfranklin - we've kind of been through this before with some of your other questions. Folks here truely want to be helpful, but you have to meet them halfway. Tell us how old you really are (you said 12 in another post), where you are going, climate, temperature range, what you normally bring, etc. If you truely want a meaningful answer - and I believe that you do since you have asked this question in different threads today - then you need to provide some information.

You need "hands-on" help here and you ain't gonna get all that much off of a computer monitor by a bunch of Americans waaaay across the ocean! The Scouts will teach you what you need to know & in the end you'll be glad that you went that route! They can look at your pack & give you experienced advice! That's all I've got for you! :cool2:
Sarge, you're gonna love this...

So - if you make loud noises will that Bear go away?
I can see it now; Scoutmaster Bear Grylls telling the wee Scouts that drinking pee & eating poo is okay! :online2long:
I can see it now.........

Oh wait - you said moors. Never mind.
sightings on the moors in dartmoor of strange black animals that have taken and killed sheep they are able to climb six foot dry stone walls and run in a very cat like manner and no claw marks in thier prints what else could it be
I'm not questioning they exist just don't want to be camping with them.
Ya know, Sam, maybe you should think about just sleeping in your yard for starters, rather than starting out in the "wilds"?
I would guess we, (friends and I) were about maybe 10, when we first started out sleeping in my "Red Ryder tent", in the back yard of a house in a small mid Wisconsin town.
The trick was to see who could actually make it all nite with out going in the house.
My sleeping bag was a surplus mummy bag (y'all remember them?), bought it with chore money from the back of Popular Mechanics mag for like $3.00 bucks.
Didn't have a outer liner, till later, and when it got wet(did just about every time I used it), though it was supposed to be down-filled, I suspect it was chicken feathers instead of goose, as that is what it smelled like.
Was quite an adventure, kept my Red Ryder BB gun handy, 'cause you never know.
So I would guess you can say I've been doing this about as long as I can remember.
Have fun.
Yeah, that's what I do. This summer I went camping at my uncles 80 acre property and now I've been camping in my woodsy backyard every weekend I'm light on homework.
And it's a great time to practice your wilderness skills.
So, Sam, been a while, haven't gotten a report on your trip to the "wilds"?
sorry for the late reply - been trying this several times now and now want to actually do this weekend in the outdoors so anybody got a good kit list for a weekend trip for a bergen ?
What's a bergen? (besides a city in Norway)
sorry - big backpack like this - http://www.kitbag.com.au/images/mollepack4.jpg
Firestarter.. and remember fire is a RESPONSIBILITY not to be taken lightly.
Sleeping bag and tent
extra food.
cordage so you can practice making stuff, like a debris shelter.
hatchet or machete and a knife and hand saw
Magnifying glass and plant books.
pellet gun at least. check on hunting regulations.
Something to cook in / on.
extra water
a shovel so you can dig a hole to use as a toilet.
toilet paper
FIRST AID KIT and know how to use it!
I don't know if you'll be camping near a water source, but fishing kit if you are.
trail snacks
a responsible companion
a cell phone in case you need help.
snake-bite kit and bee-sting stuff if you are allergic.
I would spend as much time practicing skills and having fun as possible.
a change of clothes and soap would be nice too!
Ok I have to ask Its been 6 months or pretty close to it and you still have Not taken this trip and still have no Idea what you need to take with , Here is a good suggestion. ( other than the fine list YCC posted for you) Try searching the forum . just my 2 cents.

i say you should either sleep in your yard or get your parents to take you to campgrounds so you can practice stuff there and thendo it on your own later on when youre sure you are ready
Either he's gone and didn't come back, or he's never gonna go at this point.
Sheesh, just grab your gear & go! It's only a weekend for cryin' out loud! You could last 2 days without any equipment standing on your head...well, not literally of course. It's called "camping" & it's a lot of fun! Boy Scouts do it all of the time! Make sure you know where you'll be and let others know along with the time you expect to be back. Have fun! :cool2:
