I saw where Foxnews was mocking the Canadian war effort. I find this type of reporting sick, Canada is a U.S. ally and has given up many young people's lives in the war effort.

"A Fox News video clip posted on the Internet YouTube site suggesting Canadian soldiers are weak and effeminate has raised ire among Canadians.
The 5-minute clip was from a recent broadcast of the Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld panel show on the conservative U.S. network, Sun Media reported from Ottawa. It was in response to a Canadian generals remark that his troops would need a year off after their combat role in the NATO mission in Afghanistan ends in 2011.
Gutfeld reported the plan with a sneer, the video shows.
The Canadian military wants to take a breather to do some yoga, paint landscapes, run on the beach in gorgeous white capri pants, Gutfeld said.
The segment was posted by an unidentified Canadian who titled it How to Lose Friends and Alienate Countries, while conservative Ottawa commentator Geoff Norquay called it insulting and beneath contempt. the Sun report said.
Monday, the bodies of four Canadians killed in Afghanistan Friday were flown home. Canada has lost 116 soldiers since the NATO mission began in 2002."
Isn't Red Eye more of a comedy show that airs about 3 a.m.? I've never seen it, so not sure.
A reporter does a parody and people get upset? In a world where genocide occurs daily, children are starving, clean water is getting scarce and we've passed the point of peak oil we get upset over some late night prime time wannabe? Come on.
Thanks for the Replies,
A Canadian comic did something similar with G.W Bush some years ago and the Yanks didn't get bent out of shape so get over it.
Quit being the spoiled little brother with a thin skin, the CDN soldiers do a good job and that enough for anyone, just support them as they are there and when they get back, sent a care parcel yet?
Oh, and the host of Red Eye - he's from the U.K.
Well there you go. That explains it now doesn't it.
A Canadian did not make light of the lost American lives during war, show me where if you think so. Gutfield crossed the line of good taste. Don't think calling it a joke makes it less offensive.
You're right. It was offensive. I have proudly served alongside Canadian forces in the past and would be proud to do so again in the future.
We forget that there are US troops in Afghanistan along side Canadian and Brits from the onset, they are redeploying as we speak. Don't judge all Yanks by a late night host funny or not, judge him.
Men from my village served in the US Navy and Marines in Vietnam and would not think less of any American because of a late night satirical talk show.
My own father served in a combined US/Canadian unit in Korea as well as in WWII, we have a long history together, 1812 is a long time ago.
Well my suggestion would be, if this guy thinks that Canadian soldiers aren't up to doing their job right, he should try to go up against them and find out for himself.
My thinking is a lot of people really don't want to find out how good Canadian soldiers are at their jobs and a whole lot of other people are grateful that they are.
“Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld”
Nuff said right there. The guy does a college freshman impression of TV. Mac
I was thinking along the same lines. I wonder how funny he'd find it if he walked point for them on their next patrol? Besides, who in their right mind pokes fun at someone that carries a weapon for their livelihood?Quote:

Were your guys never heard from again? Did the Canadian guys disappear? Was it aliens? Big Foot? Inquiring minds want to know!
They ended up getting two of the leased trucks stuck in the mud, then took two more out to get the first two out and ended up getting all four trucks stuck. They then got a bulldozer to try and get all four trucks unstuck and....you guessed it got that stuck as well. Ended up bad for all involved, one of which was my Commanders daughter.
Aaaaaah. The old "taking the Commander's daughter for a ride and getting stuck" story, huh? Okay. I'll bet the Commander believed that story just about as much as we do. Although the 4 trucks and a bulldozer is a bit more than similar "taking the Commander's daughter for a ride and getting stuck" stories I've heard.
Yeah, the guy with the "red eye" might want to tell this guy: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1851479/posts that he's not doing his job right, but he might want to phone it in long distance
So, now who's the girley boy?

Not to begrudge their excellent and fine service. That is a video of a varmint hunt, has been on the internet for quite some time. Although the video is not at this site, it does show similiar videos: http://www.rmvh.com/Scenes.htm
Canadians are amongst our best allies for sure
Well it does sound a bit cliches but it has a twist. She was the instigator of the whole thing and was also a memeber of our unit. In the end she was busted down a stripe and the Commander lost his chance of putting on "full bird" due to it. One of the Canadians was a Major, not sure what happened to him though.
Anyone remember this? Thirty years ago - seems like yesterday.

Trax: No arguement here on that, good riddance to the varmints :)
my brother was born in Bramalea, Ontario and anyone worth their weight in salt knows you "never mess with a Canuck"!

Here is a link showing how Canadians are honoring their war dead. Pretty moving.

That is pretty moving. Thanks.
Thanks for the video RWD.
I saw that before and while it is a very touching tribute I had to think "I hope no one in southern Ontario required emergency services that day"...
That video was amazing............
That whole ceremony is not official in any way, it was a a very impromtu thing that started after the first Canadian died over there. The gov't didn't want the media at the repatriation ceremony, rightfully so, and several people started this gathering as the fallen troops passed under the overpass as a way to show their respects.
