How would you add a handle to this blade? I understand it must be a one piece handle obviously, bottom welded with a pommel?

Ummmmm. What blade?
Edit: Aha - you added a pic.
What's the length of the blade and overall length h8mtv?
Blade is 2.25", OAL around 7" or so.
Another option could be to drill and then rivet or bolt a handle on.
Notch the shank a bit more, tape the cutting edge to work with.
Take a deer antler of the right length/dia./feel, drill a slot out similar shape as the shank.
Form a finger guard in brass to go over the shank close to the blade.
mix epoxy.
Fill slot with enough epoxy to just ooze out as you insert the shank into the antler.
Press fit the handle the last few thousants, compress and let dry.
Now find a V notch in a tree, insert handle and wait (oh no wrong post:D)
Sorry couldn't help myself the voices made me do it:eek:
It had passed my mind to epoxy it into a carved handle.
Fit a guard, silver solder, drill a hole thru measured handle, add epoxy, push thru handle, add washer, peen end, shape handle, washer & guard to size after or thread end and either recess and peen end, shape plug & epoxy to fill hole or better yet buy a Scandi for $10.
You know that sticky tape that they put on hockey sticks. I can have a good handle on that puppy in under 2 min.
Stacked leather washers shaped to fit, and a screw down end cap?
Lash it to a pole and make a spear.
Buy one WITH a handle!
For my SOG knife that broke, I used a split sapling and fitted the blade in, wrapped the end with sinew, and carved the handle into a more comfortable grip. I also used some Gorilla glue. I would try wielding to if you have the tools and materials. But that "knife" looks odd.
You mean you didn't split the sappling and let it grow around the blade?????????
What? No, you remind me of that one thread with the axe.
Or.....................................are you being smart...........................???????;/
Smart????? Nah - never happen.
Come on Jericho, you've been here longer then me and even I know Crash no smrt. :D
smart a** maybe:p:D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:p
I'm shocked!:eek: Shocked I tell ya!:eek:.............Well maybe not.:rolleyes::p
I didn't think you would be!See,it takes one to know one,or so they say!
I heard a rumor once that Crash was smart, but it turned out that Crash had started the rumor and he only did it because he was tryinng to be smart. Personally, I'd never try that.
You mean it was just a rumor???!!!???

Crash, did you wash your hair this morning????
yep.....can't do a thing with it.
Don't worry about it,just about the time you get ready to wash it again,it will look fine.;)
I've noticed that.....especially since I've had it cut.

Hey,you got the Nell look going on there, nice cut!
But you have a little too much color, gotta get some grey going on then it will be perfect.
It looks like Crash is going for that 80's punk look.
The easiest thing to do is, Drill out a piece of Antler< Epoxy, And where the blade and antler come together, Wrap with a piece of rawhide, Gives it that backwoods homemade look. And if necessary this can be done in the wild. And it looks COOL.
i would make a 2 piece wooden handle, dry fit, test grip, drill 2 holes for riveting purposes, , use epoxy to seal and attach, and re apply epoxy into holes and rivet tight. seal handle and buff it. thats how i would do it, and have done it with a cheap survival knife. hope it helps.
Bringing an old thread like this back to the light is always a good idea. Somebody that reads it will benefit from it, and new information will often be added. I just hope that the OP got it re-handled in the last three years.:innocent:
in a little less words , thats exactly what im talking about guys, lol. wow, i be damned.
The thing I find is that people frown on just glue/epoxy. Well, blades have been glued into handles since the very first chipped flint blades.
Two Ton epoxy is stronger then any task you would survive performing.
i would agree with ya winter
Be careful of you apoxy choice. Some glues are water soluble. I had run out of my normal 5 min apoxy I normally used and switched to Gorilla Glue for one knife...... Worked great for years until one day I threw the knife in the water pail after gutting a fish with the intentions of washing it with the dinner plates. 30 mins later I did the dishes and the blade just slid right out of the handle.
