so the mayan calendar ends on december 21, 2012. alot of the doom and gloomers say its going to be the end of the world. if thats true, then what is the first day on the calender? wouldn't it be the first day of the world. i'd like to know what it is. also did they get a 3 day weekend if a holiday fell on monday or friday?:rolleyes:

From the looks of it the Mayan world ended a long time ago. Their calender must have been off by a few days give or take a thousand year or so.

Critical events were positvely recorded on the maya calender, i would like to understand more about it. Something to do with the fabric of life, what said how said and our Creators desire to give us the tools we need to live and survive.

A lot of end times prophecies these days... Barack Obama as the silver-tongued speaker with ties to the East, Mayan Calendar, Nostradamus, Revelation, etc.
My book says its not for us to know the day or time, and when it does happen, we won't need CNN's pundits to debate it.

now, the numbers based on the Mayan calendar might have meaning, but only within the context of a cultural understanding of the Mayans.
then again, maybe the mathematical formula from which the Mayans derived their calendar was simply an imperfect formula. Even our own calendar isn't perfect - its off by a 1/4 day per year.
They were able to predict future events some how, if not the calender some other way.

Bragg is going to be handing out that worthless shiny so we can use it to put in tequila. We're going to give Gold Tequila a facelift. Just be careful when you tilt the bottle up. Are you talking about the velociraptor that existed during the cretaceous period approx 75 million years ago? I would have to say that I would be a little skeptical about humans being around that long ago. The earliest hominid bones that have been found in Africa date to only 6 or 7 million years ago. http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/homs/species.html and this species was even less advanced than an australopithicene that emerged about 4 million years ago. I still haven't figured out exactly when the cavemen that work for Geico started to evolve, but I have to think that it was much more recently.
What conclusive evidence have you seen?
If a dino tail was found in a tomb with a pre-native American, I'd say that's conclusive evidence that they were contemporaneous. Not that leading scientists would admit it, though.Quote:

Its a strongly divided debate over the "upspringing of man" issue. In boston the Pudding stone at the coast has debris found only in yellow stone area, this material has again turned to stone "concresive volcanic ash and pumice" the last eruption was 620,000 years ago, thats almost yesterday in geologic terms somewhere in boston is a 600,000,000 year old man sample that originated in yellow stone.
What does all this dino crap have to do with the Mayan Calendar?
That the Mayan calander maybe does not mean the end of the world just the end to an era. and that there have been many eras before this one. (maybe) And if there was they are being hidden by the church and some goverments.
