If anyone has any tips on snaring i would love to hear them.
There are several very good threads on snaring if you use the search function, you'll have loads of info.
Here's one to get you started. http://www.wilderness-survival.net/f...ead.php?t=1556
Two weeks ago @ Boy Scout camp we showed the boys how to make snares. We also told them not to snare the neighbors cats. So instead they decided it would be fun to snare each other.
Oh, I can see the headlines now....
27 BOY SCOUTS INJURED IN FREAK CRAFTS ACCIDENT.
The sheriff's office said a person known only as "Last Mohican" is a person of interest in what Sheriff "Chubby" Phelon is calling the "weirdest dang thing I ever did seen".
"When I rolled up on the scene there were all these boys scouts trapped about the neck with a snare. They were all clawing and biting at the snare wire trying to get loose. It was pretty sad, really. That's when we noticed the scout master high tailing it for the hills. I can assure you of one thing. There won't be NO Mohicans before this investigation is wrapped up. That there is a promise."
i was wondering if there was a way to snare gophers by just setting the snare somehow and then leave it and comback later . when i snare i usually sit the waitting for the gopher to come up and then i pull on the snare which gets so boring after awhile because once you spot the gopher you have to wait for it to come back up.
Deja vu all over again. You posted this same question elsewhere. I'll give you the same answer. You have to read the material.
i forgot ok .. man give a kid a break really . what if i said read after every post you posted..
Because you started out by saying you don't have time to read. The information is on here all you have to do is look it up. THEN, if you have a question just ask. You've asked questions that were answered in the thread where you asked the question. Before you can expect us to help you, you have to help yourself.
We're more than willing to help anyone but I don't intend to spoon feed you the information when you aren't willing to invest some time to study and learn on your own. So I could say, man, give a forum a break, really.
whatever. .. .. everyones a **EDIT** on this site
Okay Ryleyboy, them's fightin' words. You come on here without any intro, no way we can tell how old you are, where you live, experience, etc.; then you insult us! Does that comment refer to you as well? You said "EVERYBODY"! Read the friggin' posts or beat feet elsewhere! Play by the rules or play by yourself, I don't care, however, if you insult anyone in the Pack, you insult us all! Keep it up & you will not be allowed to stay!
really; because i thought that myself and a few others where trying pretty hard to either give you the information you where looking for or set you on the track to find it.
if you want to take a breath, stick around and try to talk with us, most of us will still be more than happy to help.
Sorry I ruffled your feathers, but go search some threads, make an intro. and you can find most things you want to learn. Anyone on here is familiar with snares and traps of all kinds. I still learn and ask dumb questions but I also get a little kidding. If you can't make it on a forum best not leave your front yard.
Candid an coot you guys are actually help ful but rick and crash ..pfft yeah right
Ryleyboy, you would do well to listen to what Rick and crash says as well.
If you don't have time to read through entire threads to get the information you want, and I do think you know the info is there, then why should people waste time rewriting it for you just because you start another thread asking the same question, will you have time to read their posts then??
Better yet, will you have time to practice those suggestions before you head out and get lost again?
I learn from Crash & Rick, with the right attitude I think they would back up and help you help yourself. I learn from everyone. Can't make judgments that quickly about good men or any. You will learn that sometimes even the guy with the worst personality nobody gets along with may just be the man to depend on when your life is on the line. I do hope you're never in that position, just think about it.
im not a dick but i can be a ***** if pushed.
k ..sorry to who ever i offened... i just want to learn some new things
Learning is okay, smarting off is not. We'll consider it a lesson learned. just remember, not all of the answers you're going to get here are going to be what you might want or expect to hear. In order to learn you have to give, as well as receive information. Also, it's not wise to just "butt-in" & start posting without 1st introducing yourself. Tell everybody a little bit about yourself; where you're from, your age, (which I now understand is 13) what experience you've had. Above all, READ THE RECOMMENDED POSTS/THREADS. That way you'll learn even more quickly. Copy?
yeah .. isnt there a page on the home page like introduction?.. like were you tell about yourself.. ?
ok thanks .
Anyway, back to the original question....
The absolute best source I have found for snaring and trapping is www.buckshotscamp.com
he details almost every aspect of snaring and trapping in a realistic sense. He uses some unorthodox methods, (electrical tape; read the articles) but all his stuff works.
the best site i like is www.trapperman.com
See my sticky on trapping, it should help you some I would think.
But hey, I'm a pffft :D
i read your sticky and thought it was great but all the traps you listed i didnt really knew what they are from my in expirence.. but great write up .
Depends on what your trapping, pick a trap and use it depending on what fur bearing animal you set out after. Those are my suggestions in that sticky, others do it different.
Also in Canada there is a list of traps that cannot be used, they have to be a humane trap. Then list is on http://www.fur.ca/index-e/index.asp . Hope this will help.
