Is homicidal a personality type?
hehehe, Kill everyone in the group and use their stuff. hehehe
"stop it...stop touching me"
We call that the "Stony" personality type
Think so.
First, you need to watch how everyone's reacting. Most people will look to others for leadership.
Second, you need to stay calm no matter what.
Third, if you quickly and calmly present a solid plan to deal with the crisis, most people will follow your lead.
Fourth, if the group decides to follow the lead of an ignorant loud-mouth, bug-out alone, if you can, and deal with things yourself. No reason to have anyone lead you off a cliff. Of course, this won't work if, say, you're on a lifeboat, but you get my "drift".
Won't shoot 'em until they try to take my stuff or hurt my family or friends.
I'm beginning to like my idea better. Just kill everyone and then you have everybody's stuff. Unless there is a useful woman in the group. Better to have her around then a volley ball named Wilson.
Of course you are entitled to your opinion but I think it would depend on how many people there were and if you were wanting to stay mobile. Just how much stuff would you really want to carry? I do agree about the woman though, cause volley balls just can't cook.
I think me and mine would stray from the group as soon as possible. I hate to sound selfish but in most cases I, like most folks here, would probably end up having to take up the others slack if I didn't leave the pack as soon as it was practical.
Montana, that's an excellent question. For those of you that have lived in the corporate world, you've probably gone through personality testing so you know what personality type you are and which type of personalities you get along with. Also what you need to do to get along with other personality types. It's an important topic for team building. Survival is at the extreme end of team building but will have the same interactions (look at Alaskan Survival).
Jung - Myers-Briggs is one test typology that can place you and your personality into 16 different possible categories. There are, of course, other testing methodologies but Jung-Myers-Briggs (I've seen it listed as Myers-Briggs as well) is probably one of the most famous. Here is a link if you are interested:

As was joked around about (you were joking right?) group dynamics will play an important part in the survival of that group. In a group, leaders, workers, providers, comforters, disrupters can all emerge. The trick is knowing everybody's strengths and weaknesses, and learning to work together as a group. When that happens, the entire group will survive. That's why, as Rick posted, many businesses want to find out the personality types of potential employees.
As a manager, it was helpful to me to be able to spot the personality types of my employees. By looking for their tells I knew which ones I would be able to get along with and which ones would be a problem for my personality type. I could then make accommodations for those individuals that would by in conflict with my personality type. It's not the be all, end all, of course but it is helpful to understand why two people can instantly be in conflict with one another over nothing.
In a survival situation, it could be life saving to have that information. Team dynamics works with you or against you and you had better figure out which it is very quickly if it's survival time.
You folks that were in small fire teams in the military probably have a very clear understanding of this. I'm sure you worked on just team building a lot even if you used different names for it.
INTp - I'd be the first to disappear from any group I'm not leading.
Thats why you pick your group before the crisis, not be stuck with one after. And all joking aside. The lone wolf route will get you killed. One person cannot make it for long, alone IMO.
if you want to see how it plays out we should find the thread from last aug or sept we ran thru and experiment with the group it turned to hell quickly as most of us are leaders in our own right, sarge started the thread makes for an interseting read.
myself i like being alone i have found that having too many freinds pulls you in many directions and people get jealous when you don't spend time with them, i have my wife who is most like me and my animals and i am comfortable with that, some may say that i am too selfish but life is short and i do what makes me happy with my free time if it is selfish i can live with that..

That is not selfish, it is what you need for you and yours. I have friends that whine if you don't see them every week. I like them and all but sometimes I feel like they are six years old about it. Every one should have a life of their own by the time you leave the house. Just my .02 on this.
My earlier comments were in jest. I am the type that would take charge if need be. But if someone else was a better leader I would help them. As an NCO in the military that is your job. Support those placed in leadership over you and take charge in their absents.
iam a preparer and a watchmen on the wall, i encourage others to prepare for themselves. iam both one who holds tools to build and a good knive to defend.
to prepare a little each day, try out a new skill, copy canning to increase your
pantry slowly. build up you personal medications needed for life.
review your community and see each person as a blessing.
buy assessing each area stregths and weakness you become the solution not the
problem when emergency arise.
you will also be ready to act because you allready had prepared yourself.
Getting back to the personality types, remember that your "natural" personality can change, sometimes drasitcally, under stress. And I think a survival situation would cause serious stress. Teams that work together often (military being one kind of team), they learn each others strengths and weaknesses, and how they will tend to react under stress. Imagine a survival situation at 14000 feet? Altitude may affect your decision making and even alter your personality.
I agree, Aurelius, and with time and difficulty. The longer the duration of stress or prolonged the difficulty the more people may shift their personality. When individuals begin to lose hope they either give up or tend to become "me" oriented. Good thought!
I like the balanced view here. The willingness to help and the understanding that not everyone can be helped. Encouragement for the ones that are willing to except it and forceful rejection for those who arrive to do harm. All joking aside for just a moment...I have a similar belief system. Be prepared, be vigilant, if I am able...help those who need and will accept it, protect those in my charge to the utmost of my ability. I guess the biggest difference here besides gender is the weapon of choice. I prefer a firearm to a knife. Although she could have been speaking figuratively instead of literally? I always have been to literal. Guess I just don't want to end up being the one who brings a knife to the gunfight.:D Just cause Rambo can do it doesn't mean I can!
You're right, it is much better to have a bow and some arrows in a gun fight than just a knife. I'm surprised they didn't have him firing his bow from the hip. Was that the only weapon he actually aimed with in the movie? Can't remember cause I haven't seen it in a while.:p
Well, you know, a broadhead that is shot into a barrel of petrol based chemical in a munitions dump can apparently level like 3 sq. klicks, so it doesn't matter how many guns they have. And, ya know, every army but ours is dumb enough to store the fuel point right next to the ammo dump.
Then you can simply cover yourself in mud and no one can see you till you open your eyes.
As for aiming, I think he kinda vaguely pointed a claymore in the general direction of some guys at some point.
See, I knew he had to be a good role model. He can improvise and be creative (mud and mysteriously exploding barrels) while still being able to follow directions.....(claymore: "This side towards enemy")
Making fun of women? You guys are either fearless or clueless. I'm not sure which.:o
Ken,where can I meet up with your girl friend and her friends, hoosierarcher needs to be taught some manners.......?Actually send them my way,he isn't too far away from me if I remember right.
