Boots in the field...finally!
On May 17th my son & I spent 3 days and two nights camping out on by kid brothers property in Central Illinois. He's retired from the Caterpillar Corporation & is very well off. He has a two story "cabin" that looks more like a well furbished and furnished house, complete with AC. He offered us the use of an upstairs bedroom but we declined and pitched tents down by the river that adjoins his property. There is a huge steel wheel rim used for a fire ring and is so heavy that when the river floods, like it does every spring, it doesn't wash away. Anyway, he'd posted a comedy video showing a failed attempt at starting a fire with a "Strike Force" fire starter. I told him that I, also had one, & I would light the campfire with it...which I did rather quickly. He brought all of our gear down to the campsite in a Kawasaki Mule. WE used two-way radios too keep in touch because, even though he was in the 101st Airborne he's still a wuss and spent the night in the "cabin." I got to field test all of my knives, shoot my pistols, and sighted in my rifles, although all of the firearms got lost in a canoe accident on the river....:cowboy: I also got to field test all of my other equipment and they worked very well. What's more I learned about more superior stuff that he has, though more expensive.(He has the money.) One example is that I usually use the "Mini-Mag flashlight for camping and such. While shining it around at night, he pulled out a Streamlight model that blew me away! http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004MOIEJE/...I12WRQ5F5VTRPH Overall had a great time!
