When I see bears in a bar.......I usually go home and sleep it off, just saying
I feel kinda' bad for that bear. :crying:
I always expect a line like, "A bear walked into a bar," to be followed with something like, "It knocked him flat out."
I've been told by Native Americans (and have also read) that if you run into a bear on a trail, you're supposed to say something like, "We're brothers and there's no reason for us to fight. May I pass so that we won't hurt each other?" And the bear, which is the closest animal to man, can be reasoned with and won't attack you.
Good luck with that.
Bears have a twisted sense of humor, as you pass by they will push you off in the muck, just be thankful it wasn't on a cliff path.
By the way chimpanzees are closer, you elect them every 4 years or so, just saying

I have had bears live with me lots of times, good for my apple tree. I will never get killed by a bear or other critters.
I will go slowly, kicking, fighting, in a hospital bed with more tubes in me in more holes then I was born with. A bear would be quicker more merciful.

Heh, by the way, that wasn't my advice. I would file it in the "folklore" drawer. As I said elsewhere, the best advice I've been reading is, if you are going to be in bear country, carry bear spray and know how to use it. I'm all for, "live and let live" but it seems that there's some reason to believe that bear spray saves bears' lives, too, because they learn that humans are not to be fooled with and so they don't end up getting blown away for roughing up a human.
Yes you are correct. Once a bear has any physical contact with a human, it is usually hunted down. It's dangerous for them to find out how vulnerable humans are. They are smart, smart, smart. Once they learn that just one swipe can take us out, then they can take our food, they will look for that situation again. Because they are also very economical....Quote:

At the first Florida meet and greet that we did we camped at Juniper Springs in the Ocala National Forest. I got there the day before the rest and was walking to dump some trash with a couple I met in the campgrounds. As we approached the dumpster we heard a noise so I turned on my headlight. The couple, who had been there for a couple of weeks said that bear goes to that dumpster every evening, opens the latch, swings the door open, crawls in, throws out a bunch of trash, crawls out and sifts through the trash.
While we were standing there a guy was walking his dog and came within 5 feet of the bear. When he got to us he asked what was going on. We pointed to the bear that neither he nor the dog alerted on. He looked and the dog and told him he was fired.
