I think its a great effort, I see nothing wrong with looking out for your community!!

Wish more people went above and beyond, instead of looking the other way on some pretext of, it's none of my business.
My wife and I were in Ohio a few years back and happened to pull in behind a drunk driver. She was using so much of the road that an oncoming ambulance actually pulled onto the shoulder to avoid being hit. Fortunately, she made to the next town where the police were waiting with open arms from our ongoing phone call with them.
Good to see someone trying to make a difference. Here we have COP's, "Citizens On Patrol", the local patrol shared with our two neighbouring communities. Not sure how well it's worked but being as 3 teens where hit an killed by a seriously drunk driver two springs just a half hour after midnight on fathers day anything helps. The drunk driver said he thought he hit garbage cans. Human lives equated to garbage cans.... sickening.
Did you read the "comments" section after the article?....seems like mostly agree with the general thoughts here.
At first glance, seems like a good idea....
He isnt breaking any laws, he isnt stopping them himself, he is seeing a DRUNK get in a vehicle and he follows them while calling 911, I applaud him :clap:
But then again he could have a motive for doing this, or maybe he is being paid by a rival bar to do this. HHHMMMM maybe there is more to the story.

If he isn't breaking any laws and not increasing the threat of harm to persons or property, I say have at it. The police can't be everywhere and see everything. Having the community being an extra eyes and ears can really be good.
I have heard it said that a nation will only be as good as the evil it allows. I think the same goes for community and this guy wants a safer one.
I used to go to a bar after work to throw darts with co-workers. The owner told me she had to pay Sheriffs office to stay away from her place. I took it with a grain of salt until I saw her give the responding officers hell in the parking lot. They just argued that it didn't apply to their deal because the lady was being pulled over well before she got to the parking lot.
The owner and the girl who was arrested boyfriend kept yelling it was BS. We pay you to stay away and the cops kept holding up their hand and saying she was already being pulled over before she got there.
I don't guess that applies here. But, boiled my blood none the less.
I'm not saying cops should pull over people for leaving a bar. But, if you see someone leaving a bar and the are impaired you should not ignore it.
This guy if only calls on those who appear impaired is doing good.

This makes me think of a larger point...something Mr. B and I talked about over the weekend.
Used to be that when we were growing up there was less tolerance for wrong doing both within the family and in the community. When I got admonished for talking too much in class, mom would give the teacher the benefit of the doubt, not me. A neighbor could chastise us for misbehaving and get applauded by parents who'd punish me on top of that. No excuses, no extenuating circumstances. You just knew better.
The community cared, and spoke up. God knows I try here, but it's not easy. Not in this city.

IMO, getting drunk is your business. When you get behind the wheel, it becomes ours. That's why there are laws against it.
Don't drink and drive, and you'll have nothing to worry.

I would like to see the legal ability to paintball any one you see texting and driving.
Or applying makeup, eating a sandwich or even, yes, reading the newspaper.

Well I guess the guy has good intentions, and I do not beleive in impaired driving along with many other unlawful things, but I don't snitch on people either. It would be very easy for a Barney Fife type citizen to mistake somebody as being intoxicated just because they don't drive as straight as everybody else, and that would be getting an innocent person hassled for nothing.
I beleive cops need to do their jobs, and we need to stay out of it!
