I've been away from the forum for a long time. so I figures I'd start a new thread on nature. Often we dont have to go to exotic places to see the beauty of nature. I find it in my own garden. Hope you all enjoy it and will contribute your images too.

Took this shot either last summer or the one before, a young osprey on his first flight, got tired and landed on the ledge in front of my house. Pretty impressive set of toenails, my wife always complains that I don't cut mine, showed her these, HAH!!!!

Wow they're great! the Preying Mantis in particular. Stupid Question... Is the Preying Mantis a baby or is that their real size? I always assumed they were quite a bit bigger than that.

A couple of years ago I found a praying mantis egg sac and carefully moved it to my garden. When they hatched there were little mantises all over the place then they promptly disappeared. After some digging I found out they leave the area they hatch in for fear of being eaten by the adults. So much for a great biological garden plan.
