Main danger around my parts would be tornados. Sheer winds are second.
I'm most in danger of living a peaceful worry-free life on a daily bases. :)
Probably not what most people fear.
1. Falls at home. According to the NSC, falls are the leading cause of fatalities in older adults and more than half of them occur at home. Accidents at home cause more fatalities than motor vehicle deaths. My luck, I'll fall out of a car.
2. Home fires. The number 3 killer in homes. Ton's of safety gear and practice evacuation. Still a huge concern for me.
3. Driving. I'm getting older and my reflexes are slowing. It's something I know and try to incorporate into my driving habits. I drive with my lights always on. Buckle up, of course, drive the speed limit and try to keep distractions to an absolute minimum.
I've incorporated it into my chair. Sadly, I once had to pass gas and mass banned 40 members.
becoming homeless soon.
Ticking off the Mrs.
What am I in danger of?
Extreme economic downfall! I'm not in danger of it though, I am in the midst of it. But, I still have internet so all is not lost. LOL!
revenge from a jealous lover.... Turns out...I'm quite the stud! Ladies love me...husbands and boyfriends would love to kill me! I am a modern day John Holmes!
John Holmes had AIDS.
I'm holding out. I plan to be killed at the hands of a jealous love at 104.
My BBQ. If I don't stop grilling, I'll weigh 450 lbs!
Getting stuck on the peninsula in an emergency. There's only 4 ways out and 3 are bay bridge, bridge/tunnel and car ferry. Just regular tourist traffic causes jams for miles.
Wildfire, Cabin fire, killing or being killed by drug addicts, Falling off the roof. Highway accident. Getting bear bitten.
Total financial meltdown. :(
I guess we all face "danger" every day. Like Rick said, it could be a fall. Or a random drunken driver. So many things we cannot control. I try to gauge what I can control, and then take appropriate action.
As far as what type of natural event might do the most harm/damage, I'd have to say thunderstorms/lightning/tornadoes.
I reckon letting my guard down and becoming complacent with my reasonably secure position. I never want to go around with my head up my a$$ and get blindsided by anything or anyone.
Other drivers while driving.
I think I'm afraid to ask.Quote:

I thought everyone went up on the roof for the occasional change of pace. I was upt there just the other day to see if anyone had left anything lying around that needed cleaning up. I patched a leak that had been bothering me for a day or two while I was up there.
I do not fear any natural disaster as much as I fear the abuses of power in local, federal and world leadership that influnce our economic, mental and physical well being. The are taking my money, ticking me off and giving me a pain in the butt.
Other than that, my only real fear is that I will die and the cat will eat me.
Let's see...... Civil unrest, Riots, gang warfare, drive-by shooting, armed robbery, home invasion. Is it any wonder I want to carry 24/7?????
Not really sure. So far up here there have been earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, crazy drivers in the winter and tonight a plane crashed no more than 1/2 mile from my house. All of these things can be a hazard to me and mine.
Ah, yes. That Alaskan thingie I don't have to worry about. Carry on.
Sarky, we just HAVE to find you some place else to live. What's your thoughts on gators?
Looks to me I'm the safest right where I am.
Who knew?!
I also live in the wilderness, but I planned ahead and built my fortress out of cement (1 foot thick walls) so fires don't bother me. I think the only real danger at the current time is what is going on in the world and in the white house. I think I will have to add another 3 feet to my walls and add an air filtration system just in case things start glowing orange around me. =)
Hey AirborneEagles - when you come out for air, how about stopping by the Introduction section and telling us a bit about yourself. Thanks. http://www.wilderness-survival.net/f...splay.php?f=14
AirborneEagles , Did you ever live in Alaska?
It is the worst... I have a flat roof... So if it snows... I am shoveling. Driveway, steps, and roof!...
My biggest worry is slipping on ice and falling off roof or down the steps… with my luck I wouldn't die .. Just be paralyzed and in pain the rest of a long life.
I refuse to shovel snow!
Until it turns into a glacial state I am not worrying about it. I view snow as an annual test of faith, proof that the creater exists. So far it has confirmed my belief.
God put it there and he will take it away
I fear looseing my freedom, and SNOWBIRDS.
That wouldnt work so well here! :) This was two winters ago...last winter was a dud, it only dropped about 6 feet in this area. My son took these pictures to e-mail to a cousin in MO.
