Lights. Driving at night would be a whole new experience.
"The Most"? Thats a hard question, I guess electric light, Its nice to just flip a switch.
Music, i believe.
.....TV.....
Air conditioning.
Electric coffee pot (to me is not the same when made over a fire)
"FOOD"......There would be no food with out electricity, no food processing plants, no trucking or trains or distribution, no stores, no access to money, banks won't open & they have no paper records, only computer. And the food in your refigerator/freezed would spoil in a week. But there is always lots of sex when the power is out.
I would miss hot showers. You can still get hot water without electricity, and even a hot shower if you are clever. But nothing is quite the same as being able to turn a knob and have hot water in an instant.
I wouldn't particularly miss TV or movies - the book is usually better (especially THE Book, imo.) I would miss the internet, though. Where else could I find all the "wisdom" that is shared on this site?
I think the hot water for the showers would be the big one for me and also the heat in the winter time. I don't use the refridgerator and the AC I can live without. I do eat a lot of fast-foods so that could be a problem food-wise for me. TV and radio I can do without. Transportation would be a problem also if we're talking about all forms of electric and not just the power grid.
Maybe you need to get rid of all that power then. :sneaky2:Quote:

As far as what I would miss. I am caught between lights and the internet. I do enjoy both.
I'm thinking the computer and running water.

Nah,hot water is still doable if you have hot water on demand,as in a propane powered tankless water heater,the only drawback is no tank for reserve water. Just stock up on "D" batteries as they create the spark to heat the water.Quote:

Good idea about dish soap--if it works on oil it'll work on anything.
In a world without electricity the only thing I missed was a nice hot shower after a long, hard, dirty day of work. The lake was a pretty good substitute though.
There were a lot of things I didn't miss when the electricity was out, in fact, I enjoyed them not being around. It was pretty nice coming home from work to a tv that was turned off and actually being able to look in the sky at night and see the stars and such.
The only thing I would ever seriously miss is indoor plumbing. If I can't flush, then surely it must be TEOTWAWKI especially here in the big city.
Well, hot showers are still possible. My Dad has a black shower bag that you fill with water and lay in the sun. Then hoist it into a tree. You could also put a metal container raised up and use a fire to heat the water.
That elevator not a priority there city slicker? You're gonna have to hoof those stairs.
You can bring a bucket of water to pour down the toilet and it will flush just fine. Course, you gotta tote the water to the toilet.Quote:

Not a problem, hoofing it that is. I do it all time. One never knows when something becomes out of order here in the city. Just the other day the escalators were being worked on in the 62nd St. Subway Station and I schlepped 4 loooooong floors (underground) up to Lexington St. carrying bags. That's one thing I can do. Just don't ask me to do my business in Central Park though--that would be a deal breaker.Quote:

But I would rather lose the electric than the water. Elec. went out early today, so no tv, computer, or lights, no problem. I just grabbed a glass of water and sat down and played a game with the kids.
With no Electricity what would I miss the most?
I'd say the toilet....I can barely hit it with the lights on, I imagine if I had to whiz in the dark all the time, we'd need rubber boots and nose plugs just to go into the bathroom!

We used small battery powered lanterns if we had to after bed time and hurricane lanterns after dark before bed time. I would guess the best solution would be to at least try and go before going to bed and keep a lighter and a candle near by for middle of the night runs.Quote:
