Hi
I often go up to a big area of moorland. It's pretty boggy, rocky, heathery, mountainous, snow filled in winter. It's very similar to Scotland. There's often high winds, so there are no trees. Occasionally grouse /pheasants/other ground nesting birds are around. I'm sure there's more, it's just I don't see them as they sometimes just sit still and don't fly up. There are rivers, although generally no more than 20ft wide. Salmon and other fish are in these rivers, although not in the huge numbers you hear about in canada etc. Deer are also about, and the occasional hare/rabbit.
Anyone have any advice on how to survive in this enviroment?
In particular, advice for catching birds would be ideal. Just stretch a gill net tight and let them fly into it, tangling themselves? Would they break out? Could you put baited hooks on a post for them? What bait to use? Is this method typically successful?
Also, is shining a bright light on a stream at night a good way to attract fish? Then just stun them with rocks? Scoop them out? And has anyone had any success with tickling?
And does anyone know of plants you can eat? Water is no problem as it's very wet.
PS I don't have access to firearms.
