"Not enough dirt..I saw it right away..."
"Here pilgrim, skin this one and I'll get you another"
This movie was supposed to be based on a book called Crow Killer about a man named Garrison that took the name John Johnston, aka Liver-Eating Johnston after the Crow killed his wife. Search the book name for more info. I've loved this movie since it came out my senior year in High School!
i love that movie :thumbup1:

Fine figure of a man, yes?.... "yes"......., Thats all you need to know.

I have the DVD. Muahhahahahahahaha!!! I agree though, this is a great Movie. If it isn't a classic it should be. Larry Dean Olsen author of "Outdoor Survival Skills" Was the technical adviser to this movie.Robert Redford did the Foreword to the book. Also this Movie was filmed on Robert Redfords place(at least the part where he built and lived in the Cabin). Just a little Trivia about the movie for you.
I think most of us that were Teenagers at the time the movie came out became somewhat enamored of this "Mountain Man" lifestyle.
The TV show Grizzly Adams is so loosely based on the real Grizzly Adams as to be laughable. The real Grizzly Adams actually got his name from Killing Grizzlies, to include one he finished in Bowie knife to Bear paw hand to hand combat. He did not get away unharmed, but badly mauled. He did raise some Grizzly Cubs after he had killed the sows. Yes he actually trained them. However that did not stop him from continuing to hunt Grizzlies(how do you think he ended up with more than 3 or 4 cubs?). I think the most he had was about 5 or 6 cubs. I too really loved the TV show. My Sister-in-law bought me the book about the real Grizzly Adams, which I devoured in about 2 nights worth of reading. I re-read it immediately.
Ya, i just got that book, read the foreward and such, reminded me of the movie and wala it was on TV two days later.
I didn't even know Grizzly Adams was at all based on truth, but it was a great show.
C-G, I was thinking on the way home why don't they re-run it?
maybe youtube has some episodes or the like.
In case anyone missed it last night.... It is coming back on, on AMC at 5:30 Eastern,4:30 Central time. about 45 minutes from Now.
Grizzly Adams was a great show.I think he set his beard on fire smoking something illegal in an airplane.
