I really like this pope better then any other I have known of.
I think most of us already knew this........but, Hey doesn't hurt to have conformation.
I'm just like the fact the he is a regular guy, not stuck on pomp and ceremony....kinda a breath of fresh air.
To me, the Pope is moot as is the rest of the entire Catholic church and structure. I am not Catholic, so none of it really matters too much. I am a Christian however, so the only thing that really aggravates me is when the Pope or Catholic Church does something that is obviously and blatantly unbiblical which creates issues for all Christians.
This is not a religious forum, so I will not go any further than that. I also do not mean any disrespect to anyone or their beliefs.
I knew that but glad to have it validated by a Holy Man. I have been blessed with 2 "Dogs of a Lifetime". One an Irish Setter that was a great retriever of birds and a brave and faithful friend. I now have a Golden Retriever that will retrieve anything you put her on. She is fearless, faithful, and loyal. I am truly blessed to have her in our family.
My favorite definition of heaven has always been...Heaven is a place where all the pets you ever loved, come running to greet you. Glad the pope confirmed that all God's creatures are welcomed there. I like this pope, but no mortal, pope or not, is perfect so I respect anyone who makes an effort.
I'm a recovering Catholic.:devil2: While I don't subscribe to religion myself I do like this new Pope. Seems like a thoroughly decent fellow.
Ha Ha! Like ya'll think you'll make Heaven? My eternity will be spent listening to Rap music and talking to used car salesmen. Maybe I should be nicer to the dog. I may need some help getting in.
I alway knew this. It is nice to hear that the church has " caught up." LOL
I am sure that the original stance is rooted in the 12th century where it was used as justification for bad behavior in a holy war. Something along the lines of if they do not have souls then mistreatment is not a sin and those (insert name here) are definitely soul less...

Oh sure now my dogs can go to heaven and I am on the other end of the line.
Despite widespread media reports that drew praise from pet lovers and animal activists, it appears that recent remarks attributed to Pope Francis, which asserted that dogs are accepted into Heaven, was the result of a misquotation. After an Italian newspaper recounted the story of Pope Paul VI telling a distraught young boy that his departed dog would be waiting for him in Heaven, newspapers and television programs around the world misattributed the tale to the modern day Pope. Although Francis' comments have been debunked, the memetic tale has nonetheless renewed a longstanding theological debate over the souls of animals. More on the story at Religion News.
.....and the cats comments...."Has he met ...us?......
Are we talkin' "nasty" like, "when's the last time you had a bath", or nasty like, "You're meaner than a striped snake". It makes a difference. Sometimes when I come in from the woods I could sure use a bath. I wouldn't want to die then if that's the one you meant.
St. Peter: "Whew. You're nasty. Get out of here and take that smell with you."
Me: "Hey, I asked the Reaper to let me take a shower first but noooooooo."
We all knew good dogs went to heaven but the pope said all dogs go to heaven. That means my bad dogs go too.LOL
my dogs are bad, bad, bad, but they are lovable LOL.
We already knew that... ask any dog lover, ALL dogs go to heaven!!! (Even bad dogs)
I should get the bumper sticker: "The more I get to know people, the more I like my dog"
EB
So who goes around heaven with a large "pooper-scooper?"....:confused1:
