Well, I have finally located a Rossi SS and paid $145. It is a LNIB youth, with case and .22lr and .410 barrels. For some reason, my daughter called dibs on it.....

Nice little rifle. looks like that's one happy young lady there!!!
Nice find!!!
Good find. She sure looks happy (and is growing up very fast).
Fine looking young lady and fine looking weapon. Give it a few years and dad will be toting that shotgun each time there's a knock on the door.
Good job there Dad......If I wasn't deep into H&R, I would be into Rossi's.
Congrats.
Thanks everyone. She is growing faster than I can keep up with.
Hunter, I think the H&R is a good choice too. The only reason I'm going with Rossi is because their rifle barrels come with sights. I'm too cheap to buy a scope for every barrel I'll collect. That being said, I'll probably put on a red dot scope on the .22 barrel. That way she only has to put the dot on the paper and success!
Later today, I'm contacting Taurus to obtain the scope base.
You won't regret buying that for her. Back when my daughter was that age, I bought a single shot Glenfield bolt action 22 for her and shortened the stock to fit her better. She is now 34 years old with a family of her own and still has that rifle and is an avid hunter to this day. She can outshoot her daddy with a bow too and has won several archery tournaments and has several nice whitetail racks hanging on her walls !
Awesomesauce! Have a great time.
Fortunately both Nate's kids get their looks from their Mom!
I still have that youth model buttstock if you want it for a project Nate. It is the black fiberglass one, hollow inside. Shoot me a PM and I will drop it in the mail to you.
The Rossi unit uses the same scope mount rail as a TC Contender. You can order them anywhere. In fact, for a .22 you could use any mount that you can find that will line up with two of the screw holes in the barrel. I used a mount from a Ruger 10/22 on my first attempt at scoping the Rossi.
It would have worked if I had not had it on a 30-06 barrel! Scope kept trying to slide off from the recoil. (note to self; the 30-06 barrel is only to be used in case of dire emergency such as charging zombies or irritated water buffalo and never with bullets over 150 grains!)
I would want all the mounting holes snugged down well for any center-fire caliber on that light rifle.
Super buy. A few years ago we bought the grandsons Rossi Combos in 22/20 and 22.410. Oldest is 13 and graduated to 12 gauge and hunts well.
She sure looks happy!
Been noticing Rossi barrels on eBay lately......going for about the same prices as H&R, ,.....selection is smaller, kinda stuck with the .243, 410, 20 ga and .22......like take offs from the combo's.
Hey KyRat, thanks for the offer on the stock. I think I am going to get the adjustable ATI and see how that works for her. I am hoping with the ATI, it will make it easy for her and then anyone else can shoot by extending it. One gun and everyone in the family can shoot...... My hopes anyway.
I bought a BSA red dot scope at the weekly gun show yesterday to put on it. It was used, but seems to be in great shape and I figured $20 was worth the gamble. It lights up just fine and has good clarity. I did order the proper mount (Weaver 92A) for $12 and hope to have it before next weekend. Maybe I can get it sighted in.
Hunter, I have been browsing around and kinda feel the same way. I know a gent that has a scoped .308/12ga combo for sale. He wants a bit too much for it in my opinion and I really don't care about the 12ga barrel.
If I do end up with it, would anyone be interested in the 12ga barrel? Perhaps we should start a Rossi/H&R parts and accessories swap thread!
LOL, most H&R people I know are like magnets.....they show up, but never leave....but that's a good idea.
When you go to sell, they are not worth that much money......so you can sell one, and fill up your truck with fuel....or just keep it.
So anyone have an H&R that needs a new home?....Already picked up a discontinued model from a member, (he hasn't been around for a while now)....so always looking.
Oh snap. You are so slick. Let's take this step by step shall we?
1. H&R are not worth much money
2. Anyone have one they want to sell?
Smooth, brother. Reeeeal smooth.
Yeah, just junky old things.....not worth fooling with......just send them here for a good home.
Nate that ATI stock will work fine for you and turn it into an all purpose adult and youth gun. I have one on my Rossi and it is nice, in spite of looking a bit funny on a SS.
The red dot should work out well for you too, just do not forget to turn it off! I have so many of those things floating around I had to build a solar charger for the 3v wafer batteries!
Is that .308/12 you are considering a Rossi or an H&R?
Hummmm, well, I don't have a .308 barrel...............What is he asking?
Good for you, They need started in the right direction early, before the education system brain washes them.
