What kind of logs are you cutting and how big are they?
The picture of one in my avatar is from the only legal back-country camp site in my state. It's in Blackbird state forest.
I didnt build it.
Nice "introduction" PlumbMaster. Welcome to the forum. I don't have a cabin so no pics.
Hunter63, saying Hey and Welcome.
This one was built by the Amish, and trucked to the site...wanted to do the self build....but desided to just go for it.
I would have had to buy the logs, any way....cost was about the same as a PU truck.

Hello and welcome.
hello and welcome.
I figured I should tell a story, it is a small world and the www makes it so. Plumbmaster's grandfather was my mentor and dear friend. He was responsible for me becoming a master plumber. Small world eh?
Very cool.....It is a small world.
thank you everyone ,great pictures
hello randy ,could you tell me if you poured cement under each block and if so past frost line.thank you.
I dug down a few feet or so and then I poured a 2 foot by 2 foot pad about 6 inches thick and laid block on top of it. In hindsight I should have brought it up one more block.
here is a cabin I built on flat stone piers when I was 19 years old.

here is a photo of the start of my latest cabin. I built it on the concrete block piers and started to put a wolmanized plywood skirt around the bottom. I ended up putting in a additional pier in the center of each wall. My very first cabin was built on large cedar posts that I had treated with creosote. The cabin is no longer standing but the posts are still in great shape.

Oh I love it! Are those propane lights?
nice work ,thank you
thanks for the comments, tis rustic. I like rustic, mistakes simply become part of the character of the construction, lot easier too LOL. The lights are alladin mantle kerosene lamps. reportedly the same amount of light as a 60 watt light bulb.
