Hello from Lake Yellowstone, Yellowstone National Park, Wy

I'm cooking up here at the Man Camp at Lake Yellowstone. The construction guys live here 7 days then go home for seven days. I have a dorm room and private bath. In my spare time I ski, check out survival winter skills, write and read. Its pretty cold still, lots of new snow. Travel is by snow coach or "man pod"....a little buggy that holds 10 guys and is pulled by a tractor sort of thing made by Hagglen. I have photos and stories on both of my blogs.

I write two blogs about survival and backpacking. I've done alot of long distance ultralight backpacking. My trail name is Brawny.


A friend recommended I check out this site. I am impressed with all the great threads. Hope to meet alot of good people here and learn many new skills, primarily hunting and trapping.

welcome! So your working at the Lake Hotel- Cool. Is the remodel going well, and the Hotel open on schedule? I have encountered many of the workers this winter as you all are getting transported in. Those giant tractor snow coaches pulling the Soviet era trailers for the workers are interesting. I spent a few weeks this winter at Snow Lodge working for National Geographic and live just North of Gardiner. The interior of the Park is awesome in the winter.

yes, the restoration is going well, on schedule. The subcontractors come in through Gardiner, the D A contruction dudes come in through West. I have only spent 4 nights off location since end of October. I've lived here all winter, its been amazing. The skiing especially. Did you do alot of skiing at Snow Lodge?

They've had some trouble with those Haglens, pulling what we call the Man Pods.

You've been working for National Geo? How interesting.

Just north of Gardiners? Then we're neighbors!
