I think it's just rhetoric from Biden who has been known to speak out of turn and say stupid things.
Ultimately, they can't afford to deal with the $hitstorm that is bound to hit them if they're dumb enough to act on it.

I wonder how many people who were on the "save the children, by grabbing guns" bandwagon, will throw an absolute fit if the first law addressing this takes away rights from mental health patients, rather than legal gun owners.

Sadly,I see my country is going to the dumper.

I figure the harder they push, the stronger the pushback. The next election should draw a lot of people who have been complacent.

can you imagine creating a national database of mentally handicapped individuals? OMG imagine the outrage. when you think about it, why are they proposing the gun dealers are the gate keeper to determine who is mentally stable enough to purchase a gun?

If the mentally ill were in institutions, we wouldn't have to worry about databases........or dealers trying to figure it out.

Sometimes the solution is not so difficult, it is just convincing those that actually make the decisions that is difficult.

It seems like, if mentally ill folks who misbehaved were properly adjudicated, then ewe wouldn't need a "mentally ill" list. Of course, that would require States to change some of their laws/practices. But still, one background check would be quite sufficient, then.
As to the other mentally ill people, just like the "sane", they are law-abiding citizens.
Some very rough waters, here, and nothing that I have seen, so far, gives me any hope that this will be a benefit to anyone.
Just another endless argument, some compromise of no value, and everyone goes away thinking that they are happy...which was not the point in the first place.

In North Carolina, you automatically get a mental background check along with the criminal background check when applying for a concealed carry permit. Do other states do the same? I've had my cc permit so long, I don't actually know what kind of background check they do now for just buying a weapon. We have to undergo both the background checks everytime we renew a cc permit.

I wonder if Obama would pass? Just thinkin' out loud. :2:
