We are going to just sit on the deck or the beach through the daytime, have a few drinks, and watch movies at night other than a cookout with friends on Sunday. I worked so hard last weekend that I aint doing anything this weekend except spend time with the girls and friends:thumbup1:
I'll be thinking about my dad.
Hopefully nothing special. I don't like holidays made up by the stores to get people to buy cards and junk. I told the kids to please just skip it all. I'm their dad because it's the right thing to do and doesn't require any special recognition.
Driving, more driving and still more driving.
Accepting untold adulation. The kids will no doubt be here. They will shower me with gifts of vast fortunes and rare metals. They will assail me with stories of their boundless love and honor for me. Either that or they will stop by, eat my food and book it. But thinking of my dad as well.
Wife is suggesting I buy a new chain saw.:thumbup1:
Been looking at Husquvarna,but not sure how much CC/model I want.
I've been running a like 1978 Sears for the last 15 years and it was a hand down from my dad.
I burn close to 3 cord a year and mostly cut and split it all.
The girls and my 2 kids went in and bought me a walk behind string trimmer with a freakin 8 horsepower Kohler motor. This thing should flat murder the weeds!

I'll be visiting my Dad, 89, who has Alzheimer's and is dying of advanced prostate cancer. To his great credit, he is passing with the courage, grace, and dignity you would expect of a former Marine. I am proud to be his son. Happy Fathers' Dad, Dad. I love you.
My son is home from college and plans to stop by for dinner. I'm looking forward to seeing him.
In the morning, I'm going to go get my brother, and we're going to go spend the day with the folks. (Mom and Dad, that is.)
It's about a 3.5 hour ride to my parents place. I don't get out there near as often as I should.
Delta - I'm sorry for the situation your father is in. Both of those diseases are terrible for the patient and their family.
I'll be working. I don't get off until six in the morning and have to go back a two in the afternoon. I get Monday off, so I think I'll be building my new work/reloading bench that day!

Had pizza and golfed with my Dad. Also popped the hood on a car and learned a thing or two. :)
This is not going to win me any points, but I'm with Karatediver. My dad was a full blown alcoholic who lived in Chicago; he was also diabetic, which is why he died at a very young age of 58. He was a blatant racist and had only two heroes in his life: Adolph Hitler and Al Capone. He wanted to be like the 2nd one. His brother-in-law, my uncle, was "connected" and could take care of things for you, if you know what I mean. I still have a list of phone numbers of contacts that he gave us awhile back. I like to think of my kids, not just today, but everyday, figuring out what I can do to make life better for them! I think that's what being a father is all about. :cool2:
Delta, I honor your father in my heart for his service. My mother contracted Alzheimer's in her 50's and died at 63. My best friend died of bone Cancer at age 61. I would like to say something upbeat and positive here, but nothing comes to mind. My heart is with you and your dad today. :cool2:Quote:
