Let's say a stranger came knocking on your door after SHTF, and after talking to him, he wasn't exactly a mall-rat, but he had a few skills and some experience that could be useful. Also assume food and water would not be an issue (he would hunt his own food.) Would you allow him to live with you?
Having more people to defend a home could be advantageous.
Depends on the circumstances and what my gut feeling was about him. I'd probably be less inclined to accept him than I would a family.
Exactly Rick, it all depends on how he holds up on my questioning and how I feel about his demeanor, he could live in the barn but not the house until he proved hiimself in faucets. Problem is I can hunt, so he has to bring something to the table since I don't know him or he may end up fertilizer in the garden.
Did it twice.......called getting married. Neither one could hunt very good one was a fair hunter.:p
No......just in case any of you guys get any bright ideas. :p
If i got a bad feeling from him I'd just plink him off and save myself the trouble of battling him later.
I probably would, depends on the "gut feeling" that Rick described. I'd definitely check out what my dog thought of the guy. I trust my dog, he's got a really good sense about people

Really Sarge? See, I think it's dependent on who shows up, there aren't a helluvalot of people I'm afraid of and if people are going hungry...that goes against my principles. So, I couldn't say a percentage one way or the other. My Mom told me about how during the '30's these guys would show up and split firewood or whatever for her family in exchange for a meal. My Grandpa was long gone (jackass) so it was Grandma and the kids and these guys were all just decent guys lookin' to eat. I know, people's values seem to have declined a lot since those days, but if the guy turns out to be trouble, I'm pretty sure I can handle it. I've never met someone who's bulletproof.Quote:

It would be unlikely that I would take in a stranger. I don't think I would even take in a friend or coworker. Most people (and my estimate is 90%) don't want to work hard enough to survive in a primitive situation. Nor do they have the morals or work ethic I want to associate with. Though I do think safety in numbers is a good idea. Even if you are way out in the woods.
