My youngest daughter became involved in a program called people to people. It was started by President Eisenhower. It's a program where she goes overseas with a bunch of kids and chaperones and explore different cultures. I think it would be good for her, hopefully she won't be a stick in the mud like me. It boils down to making money, getting donations.
Have any members ever been involved in this program?
Any money making ideas? I'm going to give her my furs and we cut some balsam boughs for chrismas wreaths. My wife is from a family of fourteen so the aunts and uncles
are donating. The wife's parents were from big families too so there lots of aunts and uncles there too. We're doing bake sales and bottle drives. I'm going to give her my scrap metal too, it adds up a bit. She's selling some king of pizza kit thing too. She's hitting up all the town businesses too, they're generous to, good people. Any more ideas? I'm a hands on type guy myself.
One thing I learned from all this is when some kid comes into the office looking for a donation, give something. I have always done this except one time. It was one of those days that I was wondering if the doors would be open tomorrow. I wish I would have come up with something though.
I haven't told her and I don't plan on telling her that if she gets even close I'll come up with the rest. Although I'm a little nervous with my baby going to europe.
