Easy tongs

This is a handy-dandy little primitive tool. Basically you need two sticks that are somewhat flexible, some cordage, and a rock. My 11 year old made these because he was tired of watching me pick up hot stuff with my hands. Turned sausages and hamburgers on the grill with them last night and he had the proudest look on his face because we were using HIS primitive tech. Cool Stuff and easy to make. It'll save me a few blisters :D

The rock goes between the two sticks near the handle end. Wrap the cordage in such a way that the rock can't fall out, and voila!

Being able to see something useful in ordinary items is great eyesight. Being able to make something from ordinary items is one of the best skills a person can have, I think. Congrats to him for a job well done.

I am very proud. For a young person to be able to look at a situation, and think "How can I improve this?" and then figure out HOW to improve it is remarkable. I guess staying on top of his education and always picking his mind and encouraging him to be a free-thinker is finally starting to pay off. Lately he's been asking me for more ideas of stuff to make, but I'm not giving in... I want him to figure it out again and make me something. If he needs help making it, I'll step in, but I really want to encourage him to use his own ideas as means to an end.
