might be time to look into fencing the garden instead of the coop! sorry about that.. it's terrible you lost your veggies. Maybe plant them some near the coop and they won't stray as far to get at yours?
I've got the veg garden well and truly fenced off. The herb garden runs along the side of the house, and until today was chicken proof. The salad Burnet that was going into a salad at the weekend isnow in the Chicken Grrr. Higher fences methinks.

It is "Cast Iron". The offending chicken is "introduced" to the cast iron pot.
