Pict re-introduction
Your Approximate Age - 44
Your Gender - Retrosexual Alpha Male
Your Geographic Location - Grew up in Pennsylvania. Have lived for 12 years in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Your Occupation - Teacher by training, Baptist pastor/missionary by conviction.
Your Prior Relevant Training - Raised by wolves / feral childhood. Avid shooter since age six, poacher until 12 when I went "legal". I have never been to a formal school for wilderness skills though I have learned from many people.
The Nature of Your Prior Experience - We had a huge wild area behind the house when I was a kid and I spent most of my time there as life at home was pretty tense. For many years my brother and I spent just about every weekend in the mountains. Hunting, fishing, trapping, survival camping, off-trail navigation, extensive firearms addiction.
Your Level of Experience - I consider myself "apt to teach" though I don't consider anyone an expert in this field. I am most comfortable in the wilderness here in Brazil or back home in PA. Take me somewhere else and I'm the student. If you go into the wilderness and don't come out humbled you didn't go in deep or stay long enough.
Your Preparedness Planning- Prepared though not obsessive. If push came to shove it would be much safer to shove off than shove me.
Your Interests and Hobbies - Wilderness survival, Bushcraft, digital photography / video, writing, firearms, the machete, all things sharp...
Your Membership and Learning Objectives - Learn what I can, pass on what I know.

Welcome home again,another great re-intro!
-
Welcome home. The feral upbringing by wolves probably accounts for the chin whiskers.

Welcome Mac, and thanks for the re-intro since I never saw the intro.
You are a wonderful resource!

Mac say's, "If you go into the wilderness and don't come out humbled, you didn't go in deep or stay long enough."
Ted say's "You got that right brother!"
-
You know, there used to be someone here who looked just like you......oh wait, it is you!! Hello!
-
Good Job Mac!! I really like all these "re-intros". I'm learning so much about folks I consider friends. I'm almost surprised you don't go by "Machete Man"! LOL
-
I never set out to become a "machete guy" I just live in a part of the world where they are the number one tool for the bush. My experience does not cover the broad range of available machetes, just what is used here in Central Brazil. I get asked all the time, "What do you think about the new "XYZ" machete" I really have no clue, I can pretty much look at a machete and know if it would work here, but here is not most other places.
